how much do you want to pay, how many bedrooms and what side of town?
1 bedroom, not too much $$, and northwest. A place that has easy access to the expressway. My viejo will be working out of town, south of San Antonio.
Do NOT go to Rancho Mirage. $520 for an 1100 sq ft 2 bed 2 bath apartment. It looks like a good deal, but there is a reason for the word Mirage in their name. Las Cimas wasnt bad. Stone oak place, not as bad as Ghetto Mirage, but not great. Those are the only apartments I have lived in the NW side of town. My best experience with an apartment was living down by sac in the Monte Vista area. They have the Best deals around, you are within two minutes of 3 major highways and the area is just real nice, good peeps and such.
I live in Lincoln Village off Jackson Keller 1 bedrooms start at $439
with washer and dryer. I live in a 750 sq ft Apt for $555. Its not bad and centrally located. But if you want NW you may try three fountains off Culebra those are nice, My mother in law stays there.
Can't help you with any apartment info but good luck! You will love San Antonio. I live on the northeast side. I hate the traffic on Bandera road and the northwest side.
Most of the stuff I read on www.apartmentratings.com has scared me. Shootings, murders, rape, theft, and car being broken into. I know it happens everywhere, but good lord.
Well, if you keep your search only to the inner west side and southside, that's what you're going to get.
I guess if I had to pick an apt around here I would look elsewhere too.

SA has so many little nice neighborhoods though, you should just come up one weekend and drive around. We live in Live Oak and have never had a problem.
Rolling Oaks mall and the Forum, what else do I need?? Oh yeah, I could use a Central Market.
You gotta be ting me. Crime is everywhere in SA. Lets not be stupid and just think it only happens in the west and southside. Take a look at the stats.
I am thinking small town outside of SA.
Yes it happens everywhere, but if you're watching the news and they're talkinbg about a rape or murder or gang fight... it's either the inner west or southside.
Violent crime happens less in the northside whether its northwest, far northwest, north central, northest, far north central, etc.)
Jesus, I live in this city, I should know.
The only thing you can do is be aware of your surroundings. There is no way to prevent these things nor predict when or where they will happen. Just protect yourself and your home
thats all you can do. I would say that you stay on NW to NC side of town crime may be a little less.
I have specifically been looking at apartments on the Northwest side. Read several reviews, not too good. And the aforementioned have occurred there. Like I said scary.
Scary, only if you're paranoid.
People get murded in rural Iowa, in rural Idaho.
Oooo... scary. I ain't moving to a rural area... ever!
Oh wait... I don't live irrationally.
Will you be working or going to school? That will be a consideration. Also if your Viejo will be driving south of town you might want to look at the roads and highways he will have to take.
First of all get a grip. I am moving from a location where murders don't occur everyday, month or year for that matter. So, if I read information and statistics about a new area, it will be off putting and not just for me, for whomever is not used to hearing or reading such things.
I won't be working, going to school full time. The fact that my viejo is going to be working out of town is another reason we are looking at a small town as another option.
You're moving from Harlingen, right?
Yeah, I forgot Harlingen has that world record of 0 murders, 0 violent crrimes, 0 anything bad happening, for any city.
And your the expert since you live here.
Health Science Center.
I grew up in the Valley and even though crime does occur it does not compare to SA. She is moving from a small town atmosphere to a big city. Give her a break. She has every right to be concerned.
Seeing as its deep in the Valley, right next to Mexico, I'm sure it's not clean of crime.
But fault me for putting the pieces together.
Jesus...
