I'm tired of hearing from ESPN and others that they aren't. It completely undermines the league. If they aren't important, why not shorten the season to 16 games, and then have the playoffs.

Let's just say going up for a rebound Kobe blew out his knee tonight, and was out for the remainder of the season. Well, then tonight was a very important game.

Let's say in April, you have a one game lead in the standings, and home court advantage is on the line, well, a loss to the Kings in or Wizards in December is making a huge difference right now.

I understand it's a long season, and the championship won't be decided till half of 2011 is over, but that's just the point: it's a long season, and every win you can get is important. It's not like Baseball, one pitch in April being the difference between going to the playoffs and not, but it's close.
