    Overrated:

Joe Johnson (still very good, just not a #1 option)
Westbrook (excellent player, but really hyped up, on both ends of the floor)
    Rudy Gay

    Underrated:

    Lamar Odom
    Dirk
    Parker

    I would go:

    Overrated
    Carmelo Anthony
    Russell Westbrook
    Kevin Love

    Underrated
    Al Horford
    Zach Randolph
    Tony Parker

I think Melo is ranked accurately. He is a top 3 player offensively. Plus, no one really thinks he is a number one option the likes of a Kobe or someone.

Kevin Love is teetering on overrated, but his numbers are great. It's hard to tell if he is legit because he is on such a bad team. But they are pretty compe ive in most of their losses (at least vs the Spurs).

I was going to put Horford as well. Very underrated. Randolph? I don't think he is underrated. I think he is what he is and everyone knows it.

Good call on Nene. There are quite a few on both list, but hard to narrow down to 3.

I just don't get how ZBo is underrated?

Maybe, I would probably agree with that. Melo is right there and has the best mid range game of them all by far. He just doesn't have the athleticism.

Carmelo's a better pure scorer than Lebron. More moves offensively, better shooter, much better post game. A motivated Carmelo is almost impossible to stop.

I guess being a better pure scorer means scoring fewer points less efficiently.

Melo is a better pure scorer. Lebron has a much better all-around game, but I would give the ball to Carmelo late in games because he's a better shooter and a better FT shooter.

Chris Paul is actually someone who I think has become underrated at this point. Same with Bosh. Paul was never overrated though. Bosh was and that is coming from a guy who likes Bosh's game.

I would rather have Carmelo shoot free throws, but if I want my team to score at the end of a close game, the ball's definitely going to LeBron.

Saw "underrated" and immediately thought of Horford. I was perusing some of the real GM forums after the all star reserve selections, and I couldn't believe the number of people going -

    "Who the is Horford?"

    "Horford? Seriously LOL"

    so on and so forth.

It's like these guys don't pay attention to anything in the NBA except for their own team.

    Nene is a good pick..

Randolph is putting up monster numbers, while being the best player on a team that will more than likely end up above .500 and potentially get a playoff spot..he's underrated because I have rarely heard his name mentioned in All-Star talk, or talk in general, even though he's arguably playing as well, or better, than Love, Aldridge, etc..I've even heard David West getting more consideration than him, which is outrageous..

As for Carmelo..it might be because I live in NY, but he has been severely overrated during these trade talks..he's been talked about as if he's on the same level as Lebron/Wade/Kobe, at least here, and he's not even close to that IMO..

Love is overrated, because his defense is horrendous..for all the talk about his numbers, opposing bigs constantly outplay him, or at least match his output..

    vs. Love:

    Bargnani 30 points
    Randolph 23-13
    Millsap 30-8
    Scola 20-12
    Griffin 29-8-6
    Aldridge 37-12
    Ryan Anderson 15-11

That's just the last 9 games alone..

Overrated - Joe Johnson, Brandon Jennings & Raymond Felton (Dude had a hot start, has sucked for a long time)

Underrated - Nene (Can be dominant on both ends of the floor), Darko Milicic (Decent shot blocking big) & David West.

Al Horford, Wilson Chandler, Darko Milicic are guys I considered underrated. Obviously Darko's nothing special, but he's a good defensive big to have on your team.

Who is Paul overrated by? John Hollinger? Go to any general basketball forum and make a poll, and I guarantee that Williams and maybe Rose come out with more votes than Paul.
