    The '96 Bulls were 45-5.

    Who else?

    The '97 Bulls?

    The '72 Lakers?

    Who?

    Who knows?

They lost 4 to start their 67 win season then went on unreal run that ended as only DALLAS could in the infamous exit to the famed Warriors!

Glad to see Spurs doing great in the regular, but no way will they beat the Bulls for best. If they lost two more games, it's over. Pop won't try to win 72 anyways.

Galileo, it's silly pointing out these facts... because as everybody knows, "the regular season doesn't mean anything.

Meanwhile, the Cavaliers are 8-43....they're doing just as good as the Spurs, only at losing.

Doesn't mean anything. It's not based on odds or anything that's happened in the past.

We could be 82-0, that doesn't equate to a championship.

It's often overlooked by a lot of Spurs fans but the Game Notes you can find at Spurs.com and the TV Companion should be bookmarked.

Yeah but also by that, It only shows one team with the same record as SA through 48 games that won the championship.

Yeah ask the Patriots what a historic regular season record gets you.

Unless we started off something like 0-16, after which our record was 82-0.

Then yes, 82-0 equates to a championship.

There are no championship throphys for the regular season. Injuries can decimate a team at the wrong time and there goes championship hopes.

Ok Yes starting out 0-16 then winning out the rest will get you the le.
But the record would not be 82-0 it would be 82-16 so 82-0 would not equate to a championship.

Of course, on the flip side of the discussion, of the six other teams to have started with the identical record as the Spurs, only 1 went on to win the NBA championship.

I think the Spurs are experienced, smart enough bunch to know that a great regular season record does not guarantee a championship in June. They have to remain focus and keep on winning basketball games to try and secure homecourt advantage for the playoffs and try and get better and better as a team. That is a great start through 50 games though.
