Leave it to poop to report the poop =)
they did not even mention the Spurs one time, despite them even having played a game that day.
probably a full half of the 2 hours was dedicated to talking about the Heat and the Lakers exclusively. the other half was split between Carmelo talks, blake griffin dunks, and finally 30-second recaps of all the days other games.
kind of strange that it never crossed their minds to maybe mention that one team that is 44-8
its like the entire media has decided the only 'relevant' teams contending for the le are the lakers, heat and celtics despite all of them having considerably inferior records than the Spurs.
i can see it now..even if the spurs win the le it will be simply a footnote mention, a small article on page 18b...it will be like Headlines discussing how good Heat/Blake will be next year/Lakers drama/Carmelo drama...and in other news spurs win the championship MOVING ON how bout them Lakers???
Leave it to poop to report the poop =)
haha can you imagine if it were the Lakers or celtics who were 44-8 right now? it would be all over every sports show every 5 minutes
Your favorite team (mine too) has the best record in the league and has for quite some time. That should be enough to make you happy.
like TP said, they'd be gods in NY or LA.
I keep telling myself that, and not to care what the ***hats on tv think. But I must admit it really gets annoying. My favorite team has the best record and I want to see some coverage. I want to finish watching the game and then go read a hundred articles about how great we are. Is that too much to ask?![]()
The Spurs are like the protesters and the NBA is like Mubarak.
Just go about your business, stay in the palace, pretend they don't exist and hope for the best.![]()
If the Spurs with the le the headline after the game will be...
"Celtics come in Second!"
I get it but also don't get it. What would ESPN sucking the Spurs s have to do with making any of us happy?
I watched TNT and the crew agreed on the fact that (unless a injury) the spurs will finish 1st overall...
But hey, who cares if we're still overlooked?
I like it...
it not so much that I want to see them drooling over the Spurs, but i would like some more coverage. You know how it is, the game is over and you're still on that high and you get online to check out what everyone is saying and there's nothing. A quick recap, a 30 second blurb on NBA tv or ESPN. Kinda leaves you wanting more. but eh, it is what it is.
Last night on ESPN the only mention of the Spurs was 3 cheers for some spare Raptor who went baseline and dunked over Ginobili. (they didn't even mention that the Spurs won the game!)
It is ridiculous!
I am serious. I think the ultimate plan is to feed all the good players to the Celtics, Knicks, Lakers, and Heat and it will be a four team league. All others will be relegated like the European soccer league's do it.
NBA standings will look like this:
East
NY Knicks
Boston Celtics
West
Los Angeles Lakers
Miami Heat
games against each other will count 3 points for a win. All games against the "others" will count as a 1 point win. (for playoff seeding purposes). All four make the playoffs every year.
You'd think that growing up as a Spurs fan would give me some thicker skin when it comes to the national media, but stuff like this still sticks in my craw. Yeah, I know, flying under the radar is all fine and good, but it'd be nice to get at LEAST the coverage we're due as we're far and away the league's best team so far this season. It's not that I want ESPN all over Ginobili's or Parker's nuts 24/7, but like kidd_91 said, I'd at least like some Spurs-centric coverage following wins, analyzing what they did right (as opposed to what happened after SA played the lakers--the lakers' struggles were front and center, while Dyess' tip was a footnote to underscore their larger story of "what's wrong with the Lakers?"
If we beat quality teams, the focus is on what the other team did wrong to get an L, if we beat the teams we're supposed to beat, we'll barely get a whisper. Can't win for losing sometimes.
Ok, I'm done lol.

It's always interesting watching a pre-produced Super Bowl style musical montage on ESPN of Kobe Bryant after his third place team finally beats a le contender. ESPNews didn't even cover the championship parade for the Spurs in 07.![]()
