great post, 219. And remember this, the only NBA team to ever defeat a healthy Duncan has been the Lakers.
And they ain't here right now.
Back when I was a freshmen in highschool I was flipping the TV channels on a Saturday and I happened to see a guy shooting a FT and below it had the name of Tim Duncan. He was playing in Wake Forest. Autmotically he caught my attention and I saw the rest of the game. Since then I never missed a Wake Forest game and Tim Duncan had become my favorite player of not only in college but my favorite player period.
I would always tell my friends about a Tim Duncan and they would always make fun of me when I would tell them that he was going to be a superstar and a MVP in the NBA. Mainly because they had never heard of him. I saw in Tim Duncan something that I had never seen before in a player. He was modest in the court but in his eyes he just wanted to win. I was drained when they lost to Stanford i in the tournament.
Then came draft lottery. All I wanted was for the Spurs to get the #1 pick because I wanted my favorite player to go to my favorite team. Well it happened and I was excited. I have always stuck by Duncan and have always had hope in him. People might criticize his lack of emotion but no one will every criticize his emotion that he carries in his mind and in his heart. No matter what happends I have trust in Duncan that he will prevail and carry his Spurs to the Finals.

awesome man.... just awesome....... i got a little teary eyed. (damn hormones)
DUNCAN IS THE MAN!!
I watched Tim Duncan all through his 4 yrs at Wake, because he kicked my Terps' asses for 4 yrs. I knew I wanted him on my Spurs all along.
When SA won the lottery for the first pick, I thought it was devine intervention, and I knew that my life was indeed charmed.
no words......
timmmayy is da man!
Your life is indeed charmed.....whatever..
Yeah, yeah, you are just bitter that you lost Shaq.
Similar story I caught a wake forest game at Stanford University, I was visiting my cousin there. That was what? the last game Duncan played for them. And I turned and told my cousin he would be in Silver and black the next year. I came home and told my mother about him. To this day she is kind of amazed that I came to her with a name she had never heard of, and predicted he would be our DRob replacement.
Yeah, I'm bitter we lost Shaq....what did he do last night...oh yeah 12,5 in 25 minutes...no blocks...yeah I'm bitter.
His body is breaking down, nuff said. I'm happy Buss didn't s out 30 million+ per year for an extension...
Yeah look at Shaq! He is only in the ECF! Where is Kobe, fishing??
Hmmmmmmm, sounds like you are bitter, to me.
He is so bitter, he is still looking at Shaq's stats.

Damn you guys are funny...what am I supposed to do...stop watching the NBA because my Lakers are fishing....man like I said in my previous points...before 97-98 what was the point of watching the Spurs....you guys must have had no B-ball knowledge prior to TD's inception....
David Robinson, one of the 50 greatest players ever....
Dude! The Spurs were VERY GOOD thoughout the 90's. David Robinson was a great player.
I thought spur219 was Shirley Manson up to this point.![]()
Yes Drob is good, I have this rookie card....did they make any significant noise in the playoffs...no only until 97-98...I'm just tired of the ...like when I can't comment on other teams just because my lakers aren't in the playoffs....my point is this...when the spurs sucked ass did you still cheer for them.....
1994: Spurs make it to third round with league's top scorer (Robinson) and top rebounder (Rodman). Lose to the Rockets, who go on and win the Championship.
I'd say that qualifies for some noise.
Yes. I for one went to several games during our tanked season of 1997 when we had 'Nique and Monty Williams running the show. Attendance was pretty good from what I remember.
Bonfire,
Who is Shirley Manson? Is he or she a poster here?
If it were possible for me to give birth to Tim Duncan's child I would happily volunteer.
I love him and I'm not afraid to admit it damnit.
you're kidding, right? Lead singer of the band garbage. And huge fan of Tim Duncan, apparently.
He was kidding you, of course. I wish Shirley Manson was posting here!
What did I tell you guys. Always believe that Duncan will prevail.
Sorry spur219, I tried to find an old thread on the garbage/shirley manson topic. I remember someone stating that she first came across Timmy when seeing him shoot freethrows on TV, and now she's his stalker.
Someone also mentioned that she self-mutilated herself once, and watching Tim shoot freethrows wasn't helping - of course, well before the 15/15 the other night.
Good judge of talent. You're a pure fan. Thanks for coming to this board.
But, is he really healthy? Word is his right ankle won't be 100% till sometime in the offseason. Damn Olympics!! Hurts us with Tim, Manu and Tony (although France wasn't in last year).
