I thought you didn't have any money to go to college or some story like that. (Wasn't that you?)
    Maybe invest in that.

Depends on whether your goal is for long-term investing (retirement) or short-term investing (saving for a purchase).

Unless you're a market hot-shot or willing to spend every day poring over the financial pages, then low-cost index mutual funds are probably the best way to start.

There's plenty of good places for information out there, i.e., http://www.investopedia.com/university/mutualfunds/ The Club is probably not one of them.

If it wasn't that much you wouldn't be worried to blow it somewhere.

    Gold coins.

Look at the ROI on gold over the past year.

I know someone who can hook you up, legit, worldwide firm.

Thats such a stupid statement. He's right in that the grand scheme of things 30 thousand isn't going to be that much but that doesn't mean he should go out and buy 30,000 dollars worth of hookers and blow.

Also, sounds strange, but guns are always a good investment. Not collector items guns, those are a bit risky, but actual guns. Look into transferable class 3 subguns. Their price never drops, only increases. You can get a couple Colt M-16s for that money, hold on for a couple of years, maybe get 25% or more in return. Or you can buy one Thompson. They are going for about 30K for one in really good condition.

I was trying to avoid recommending specific companies, but they have a very good philosophy for beginning investors.

Also, depending on your level of expertise in the market you may want to pick up the "Little Book" Series (as in "The Little Book of Big Dividends"). They have a whole plethora of different subjects. Each book is about 100 pages long and is built to be easy to understand. They will not make you a guru, but may give you enough info to know the direction you would like to go in order to further your research.

Education is probably your best (initial) investment here.

Pay a consulting fee to a financial advisor...I went with American Express Financial Advisors--but you can go anywhere you feel comfortable...and go with a person you feel comfortable with.

I would look into investing for retirement...30k is a good start...then you can put in a set amount every month...in time...you can start thinking early retirement...good luck.

It's "buy low and sell high" not the other way around. I'm not saying Gold has reached it's peak, but the return most likely won't be anywhere near the performance of the past few years in the short term future.

If you're interested in gold, it'd be better to invest in Govt/treasury bonds...low yield, but zero risk, and the earnings are tax free. Even blue chip stocks (ibm, apple, etc.) would be a better investment in the long term. Slow and steady growth.

Depends on how long you can wait...if this money is expendable...dump that into a Roth IRA and pick out some good Mutual Funds...if you need fast money...play the stock market...probably watch it all go down the tubes...mid range length of time would be maybe CD's for a couple of years at a decent rate...you should probably consult an actual Financial Advisor though...
