Lot of respect for the coach who basically stole the job from his previous coach as GM, tanked on purpose to get Duncan, decided to protest FIsh's 0.4 shot as impossible (denied), sent in film to the NBA to get Kobe suspended for an "unnatural basketball act" and then stated that there should be a trade committee to veto the Gasol trade.

He can go screw himself. Watching Phil beat him repeatedly when it counts is very satisfying.

Seeing Pop coach the Lakers would make me stop watching basketball altogether.

So, what other team other than the Spurs (and the Lakers) would you like Pop to coach?

Pop going to LA would be a swerve of Hollywood Hogan proportions.

Pop will never leave the Spurs and will probably retire from the NBA the same day as Timmy.

Pop to the lakers huh? It can happen. If there's two things in this world Pop loves, it's media attention and big ego superstars.

Actually it would be kind of funny watching ESPN try to suck up to a major market fanbase with a coach that gives them nothing to work with. They'd try to rebrand Pop from "boring jerk" to "super focused rebel".

Still makes me laugh every time I hear a fan alluding to Pop's "trade committee" in regards to the Gasol trade.

Goodness gracious sakes alive ... somebody look up facetious.

He would be about as successful (and popular) in LA as Rudy T was.

Pop is way too set in his ways, and way too smart, for that move.

So true. Pop would hate all the Laker hype and his players would hate him for that very fact.

He's not retiring the same day as Tim, nor the same week or month or year.

But I agree, the Spurs will be his only team as coach.

And I'd like Andre Drummond to be Tim's successor, but fat chance.

Why would Pop give up the almost absolute power and authority he has in SA for the circus and egos in LA? The man has job security like no other coach.

Dude…Get Real…Pop is fine for your town…Taking rides on the River Walk….Dining at What A Burger…Making a guest appearance during rodeo week...But the Mighty Lakers reside in the land of Stars…Jerry, Shaq, Kobe, Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Riles, PJ, Dianne, Jack, Steven, to name a few…

Don’t think Coach Pop would ever be asked to place his hands & feet in the Hollywood Walk of Fame…

he would only be considered if the Lakers want to keep winning.

I'm sure they could pry lure Minnesota's coach away and launch the Second Rambis Dynasty.

It wouldn’t work…Coaches like Bobby Knight or Pop do well in arenas where they can scream, throw chairs & hurl insults…But that doesn’t work when dealing with true stars who play in major cities…

It's a cool idea but it won't work.
