i was scared of the nuggets with melo, honestly. they always battled us hard and they are great @ home. but now that he's gone, ain't no team really scares me from 5 to 9 (portland without a dominating backcourt, nba hornets lol, melo-less nuggets, jazz without sloan)...Lakers here we come, should be a great matchup in the second round!

The Hornets are the one team that scares me. As long as they have CP3 and West, they will always be a challenge.

I think we would probably win with HCA but I think it would take 7 games. Any of those other 5-9 teams I think we handle pretty easily

Should be fun. I am bored with the annual Jazz beat down, so a series against the Mavs hopefully will be more interesting.

Besides the Mavs is the only good team in the west we haven't meet (and eventually beat) in the playoffs the past decade.

i seen him, on feb 2nd in the game against the knicks....and he really sucked.

but right now it looks like he will end up in new jersey in part of a 3-way-trade between mavs, nuggets and nets so that's good for you.

Even before the Melo trade I was pretty sure the Mavs were a lock for the second round. There are a LOT of quality teams in the west that can beat you on any given night. But there are only so many that can beat a legitimate team in a best out of 7.

Of course Golden State in the first round can happen.

But I don't see that happening this season.

I only see SA and Dallas as serious contenders. It's kinda odd someone would base the assumption of Dallas getting into the second round based on Melo being traded. Denver wasn't a threat to begin with.

I will agree, the only 1st round team that scared me any bit was the Nuggets. I still felt that the Mavs would beat them, but at the same time, they were the only team that had a chance at pulling off an upset of the Mavs in the 1st round.

according to dirk, the '07 warriors were the best 8 seed of all-time, and the '10 spurs were the best 7 seed of all-time...
