Saw it, was only a matter of time to wait for the thread.
Don't know if you guys have seen this but it's another fantastic piece from Mark Stein and ESPN about why a certain team should be #1. And yep, you guessed it, no mention of the Spurs.
But like everyone else says, flying under the radar is probably better.

Wow. Normally I downplay a lot of stuff about how the Spurs get left out (especially considering the number of SI covers I have with Duncan covering the page), but this is pretty ridiculous.
On the other hand, I don't know if ESPN has a San Antonio local site, so that could play into it as well. Notice the Thunder aren't mentioned either.
SA does not have a local site, and thus the ommission from this article.
Orlando isn't a top tier team anymore. They've fallen off more during this season than any other team right no, IMO.
This also makes winning a le so much sweeter if/when it happens.
Also, LOL @ Knicks le hopes.
thats what i thought
It's a conspiracy!
With one pro franchise, SA will get an ESPN local site about the same time freezes over ... and not the one in Michigan, either.
you mean our possible semi-pro soccer team and UTSA football will not make the difference ?
Maybe we have a foam middle finger with some neal with it es on it.
To be fair, you are absolutely right, there is an ESPN Dallas, ESPN New York, ESPN Boston, etc. That is why you have a team with no chance like the knicks on there, but not the spurs.
At the very least, they could have put up Spurs and OKC hands in the picture to represent the top teams in the league.
lmao'd when I just saw this on espn's page![]()
Agree
Wow. I usually don't care at all for like this, but that is pretty unbelievable.![]()
Its only because SA doesnt have a local site,
no biggy
I do like under the radar !
Jesus people, it says "Our ESPN Local sites"
SA doesn't have a site, the foam fingers do.
Stupid thread.
Read, comprehend . . . butthurt (if necessary).
I think you misread them: this is for teams that have to justify why they are #1. The Spurs aren't listed because, well, they are #1. Period.
(yes, this is TIC, the real reason is that there's no "ESPN San Antonio" site)
I guess if you don't have a local site, you can't be a le contender... SO why are we focused on bringing in Brewer? shouldn't we be trying to get our own ESPN site?
Once again....
The only cities being shown here are ones that have ESPN local affiliates, such as espn.go.com/dallas or espn.go.com/boston.
While I agree that the Spurs are often left out of the conversation on ESPN...I don't think this is necessarily one of those cases. They are marketing their product.
OK, I take it back, Miami doesn't have a local site affiliate. But I guess ESPN just can't pass up a chance to mention the Big Three.
They donīt have a local site for SA and the whole point of the note is to advertise those.
