$100-120 K per year
Does anybody know someone working as an engineer (preferably mechanical) in the US and roughly what they earn? More specifically in the upper scale type of paying jobs such as mining industry or oil industry... Iv done a bit of searching on google but wanted to get some first hand info.
Im living/working in Australia at the moment but thinking of moving to the US for a period.

Go to payscale.com. Good info there.
I am pretty sure that Mechanical Engineer's make a lot more in Australia than the USA...
I'm out of touch with the engineers I used to work with. I would guess Tlong's numbers to be close, but maybe a little low if you get into a nice specialty. I was making 2/3 that 15 years ago. I know the engineers made even more.
Out of college with a BS (recent graduate): ~50-65k
...with a MS (recent graduate): ~65-75k
...with 5-7 years experience (mid-level): ~80-90k
...with 10-20 years (senior): ~100-120k
You sure about that?
