Let me explain the obvious to you.

They mention it because its out of the norm. They don't have great defenders and are often blasted for their defensive efforts. So, when they do actuly step up, it's noteworthy, and commented on.

The Celts are KNOWN to be a great defensive team. Why would you point out the obvious such as a stoppage on a play? Now when a player carves through them for an uncontested layup... you better belive you are going to hear something along the lines of "who said the Celts are great defenders" etc.
