TomTom XL 340-TM Live, replaced an older TomTom. Got it a few days ago and it's pretty dig. I like the lifetime of free maps feature.

Yeah my Droid is a GPS too but it's kind of small to use and it runs down the battery.

The ease of use is the biggest reason I use it, my Commander also has a nav system but I prefer the iPhone. The GPS is turned on and off when needed so I get the gist of where I need to go, and take it back out when I get close enough to need specific directions about which streets to turn down, and which side of the street my location is. Not too bad on the battery.

My Dish Network van doesn't have a navi system : and using a car charger for the smart phone for 8 hours a day is pretty re ed if you care for your battery so the typical GPS is my fix.

Evo. Same as pm5k with the use however. Just use it to get the general area and use it again when I get close.

I used to use a Garmin Nuvi for long trips and it was good, but since I bought the Lexus I use the built-in navigation now. When I need to find a particular store near by, I use the iPhone.

Um, so what does this mean:

using a car charger for the smart phone for 8 hours a day is pretty re ed if you care for your battery
What kind of Droid do you have?

If I drove around for a living I probably wouldn't use my iPhone for GPS directions.

I use my phone. I hook it up to my car stereo, turn on MapQuest and go. I can be listening to something, and when it comes to time to turn, it lets me know over the iPod. The app was free, does a decent enough job, and it doesn't run down my battery too much because I have it on energy saver and also because it's usually a one way trip. If I can get there initially, I can remember my way back no problem.
