who ever deserves it. but manu is due one.
Before someone pounces and says, "It's only March," well, it's only a hypothetical thread.
If we win it all, whom would you rather see be Finals MVP?
Ginobili getting Finals MVP = The Big Three - Dunc, Park, and Manu - would then all each have collected Finals MVP accolades at one point.
Duncan getting MVP = His 4th, and, if his last ring ever, would really send him out on top as a crowning achievement.
Or.....who else might plausibly wind up as MVP, other than Parker?
who ever deserves it. but manu is due one.
Duncan is already one of the legendary players in the history of basketball. If ever somebody tries to diminish Duncan's achievements by saying that some of his teammates won Finals MVP then they will look foolish and on top of that I will be there to smack them on the head.
Ginobili is due one (he put down some advance payments back in 2005) but on the other hand he's already a lock to the HOF due to his international + european achievements (and of course NBA).
So in the end I'd like Parker to get one more because he's currently on the bubble for the HoF and a second Finals MVP would probably turn it into a lock. And I'd really like to see these three guys in the HOF some day (+ Pop of course).
Whoever steps up in the final.
But i'd love to see Manu getting the MVP tbh.
I would like a triple MVP. But if I had to pick one, it would be Timmay. It would put in the elite group of MJ and himself winning 4 or more finals MVP's.![]()
Only Spurs fans.![]()
We have threads like this to piss off Mavs fans.
I would rather the MVP of the Finals be the Finals MVP
By that logic, would you rather the eventual championship-winning team be the championship-winning team (even if it's the Heat, Celtics or Lakers?)
Come on.
Manu deserved it in '05.
But it would be hard to root against Duncan.
Winning Finals MVP in three different decades could be the most impressive feat in NBA history.
I'm a big TD fan. TD has won 3 finals mvp and tony has one. Manu deserves a finals mvp. And duncan having 1 last championship before retiring is enough, he is alread the GOAT, the legend, the big fundamental.
2011: TD
2012: Manu
---------
TD: 4x (in 3 decades)
TP: 1x
Manu: 1x
It's only fair. Parker and Duncan have been recognized and Manu has been the best player so far this year.
I would like Ginobili to add a Finals MVP to his resume.
But if its Duncan or Parker... that's fine
if Neal win the MVP it's ok for me
i just want a spur![]()
I'm like Pop on this one. Whoever earns it should get it. So I don't care as long as the Finals MVP is a SPUR!![]()
If we win one it'll either go to Tim or Tony. Manu's just too sporadic and inconsistant with his scoring and he's in a spot where he just fills in when Tim or Tony can't. I would love to see him get a little recognition and a little credit for all that he does. I was a little sad for him that he didn't get it in '05 with the monster playoffs that he had starting from Pop benching him in the Denver series as an experiment to see what would happen all the way to the Finals. I do think he's underrated with the general NBA fans but at the same time I don't know how much he really cares. Hey at least he made one more All Star game and won't be considered only a one time All Star now so his NBA resume isn't that empty.
Can't wait to bump this thread when Kobe hoists his 3rd straight.
And yet that would only tie him with Duncan and Shaq.
But I guess it's expected that the 3rd best player post-Jordan would collect his Finals MVPs now that Duncan and Shaq are past their primes.
If we win it all this year, I will be celebrating so much I doubt I'd even notice who was the MVP. I would not care at all. But if I had to vote, Manu maybe, he doesn't have one, give him one.
Number of Finals MVPs decides nothing. Every smart basketball knows this.
How is psychoanalysis going?
