I knew it wasn't all in my head

ESPN's "I Love the '80s" [PERMALINK]
Who's picking the music for ESPN's NBA telecasts, Martha Quinn?
For weeks now, the network has peppered its coverage of this hippest of hip-hop sports with the Phil Collins '80s prom-favorite "In the Air Tonight."
On Wednesday night, it used Tom Petty's 1985 chestnut "Don't Come Around Here No More" as the soundtrack for a highlight sequence showing Amare Stoudemire's game-saving block of a Tim Duncan shot in Game 4. Get it? Don't come around here.
Gee, kids, 23 skiddoo! Too bad the Eastern Conference finals are over. I hear ESPN had a great feature with Ralph Macchio talking about how the Spurs' defense is as hard to solve as a Rubik's Cube.

I knew it wasn't all in my head
I thought they chose "Don't Come Around Here No More" because Nash kinda looks like Tom Petty.
On a related note, my husband won't stop calling Joe Johnson "Bouncy Head". That's mean, right?
I keep expecting them to show Shaq and Wade dressed up in Miami Vice garb and driving a Ferrari when they play that song.
I thought the Tom Petty song was a good choice. Tom Petty is the ing man, and it sure beats some ghetto trash nonsense song about es n money.
I was also wondering what was going on with the music selection. It just sucks. They need to play some good motivational rock music.
