Technically, the Spurs did NOT clinch a spot tonight because there are still 18 games left and the Suns are 18 games behind the Spurs in the 9th spot. So, in theory, the Spurs could lose the rest of their games and the Suns could win the rest of theirs - but does anyone think that's gonna happen?

The Western Conference will once again be reserved for teams that get close to the 50-win mark. While the Spurs have the ability to get it done, there are many “ifs” that can prevent this from happening. They will need a healthy Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili, a refreshed Tony Parker, a more experienced George Hill, and a rejuvenated Richard Jefferson, and an NBA ready Tiago Splitter, not to mention a steadily improving bench.

To be fair he did say that. And Duncan and Ginobili have stayed healthy, plus Parker is having a great year. Hill's not much more experienced from the looks of it, but he's had some big games and unlike this guy could have projected, Gary Neal came along and added some more punch from the bench. We've definitely seen a rejuvenated Richard Jefferson, even on poor shooting nights, and Tiago Splitter seems to be more NBA ready now than when he came in, but to counter that who would've thought Bonner was going to shoot 52% from three? I guess the point is, yeah he's a dumb ass, but for the year we've had, things have had to and have come full circle.

True. But I think him saying that they will miss the playoffs was stretching it. The Spurs just finished last season making the 2nd round as a 7th seed. No one doubted Tony to come back rejuvenated. If he had said, they aren't championship contenders, then he will have more credibility although he would still have been wrong.

Props to the Spurs for making the Playoffs yet again and another 50+ win season. It goes to show just how damn good this front office, Pop, TD, Tony, and Manu really are.
