Their season-long reliance on the 3-ball is on full display. With limited paint points and with dribble penetrations cutoff, their chances of success is very limited if they can't knock down the 3-ball. That's why relying on the long-distance shot, as a first option, is a risky philosophy.
The Fakers defensive game-plan of a week ago was a blueprint on how to beat the Spurs.

Exactly. Sadly, it's getting to the point where we will need other teams to shoot themselves in the foot, even injury misfortune to help the Spurs along. I admire the effort and class, but unless Pop has asked this team to become slightly above average to fool the compe ion, I'm worried about us making it out of the opening round, much less semifinals. Maybe...hopefully this is some late season swoon and the energy will instantaneously return.
There isn't anything wrong with shooting open 3s..if they're good looks, take them, as 4>0 said..
The Spurs lack of interior scoring is worrisome, so you have to hope that Duncan/Parker/Ginobili/Jefferson/Hill all step during the playoffs, they're all potentially capable of doing some damage in the paint, if they're motivated to do so..
I wouldn't count on it though, this team obviously loves the jump shot..
The positive is that out of the other top 3 teams in the West, 2 of the 3 are also jump-shooting teams(OKC, Dallas)..unfortunately, the most dangerous one of them all has 3 All-Star bigs, obviously..

Their lack of FT attempts had nothing at all to do with officiating - it was from the Spurs own lack of aggression and passive play.
That may be but the Heat played D on the Spurs differently on the perimeter. Miami doubled the ball and effectively morphed into a 3-2 zone on many occasions. The Lakers collapsed more than Miami did.
