i dont think tim hasnt been blocking or assisting at that year's level this postseason
Tim Duncan came very close in '03.
He might just do it in this years NBA Finals......
A Quadruple-Double.
It has been a long long time indeed.
i dont think tim hasnt been blocking or assisting at that year's level this postseason
No he won't.
There is no Admiral to send off into the sunset.
Uh, there's NEVER been one recorded in the Finals, and only four of them, EVER. The cool thing is that two of the four were Spurs, DRob and Alvin Robertson.
if they started counting turnovers, i bet magic had a few.
The hard item is BLK. Tim missed the quad-doouble becasue he got "only" 8 BLKs in 03 le game, an astonishing number.
How many players got 8, or 10, blocks anytime in the past 5 years, season or playoffs?
Nazr recorded 8 blocks against NJ just last year.
Tim have better players now, so it's not all on him.
To get to the point of a quad, a player has to have everything go his way -- his teammates have to make shots after his passes; he has to stay out of foul trouble in blocking shots and rebounding; he has to make his shots -- and he has to do all of it on the same night. There's probably a reason that it's only ever happened 4 times in the more than 50 year history of the NBA.
I think it's bizarre to suggest that just because Tim got close in 2003, that he'll somehow get close again in 2005. He's the kind of guy who could do it, but he's played in almost 200 games since Game 6 of the 2003 Finals, and he's never come close to a quad again.
And I can't see it against either Detroit or Miami -- Tim could do it against New Jersey because they had no legit bigs, had to double or triple Tim, and Tim could own the boards and the paint on both ends. I'd think Tim will have a good series, but I don't imagine he's going to average 24 points, 17 rebounds, and 5 blocks like he did in 2003. I wouldn't even expect the 27 points, 14 rebounds, and 2 blocks he had in 1999.
I see Manu getting one off of points, boards, assists, and steals before I see Tim getting one.
Yeah but we won't be playing the nets...
10 blocks just doesn't happen anymore it seems... makes one respect DRob even more... how many 10+ block games did he have? 11?
Yea, and kenyon martin isn't on the Heat or the Pistons
