A 63-day dry spell and long-term heatwave is almost over for Perth.
After sweltering through the hottest March on record and having not seen a drop of rain since 0.4mm was recorded on February 1, the Bureau of Meteorology says relief is on the way.
The Bureau's Neil Bennett said as people wake on Thursday they should see showers across the city and those should continue throughout the day.

However Mr Bennett said the downpour is not expected to be huge, with about 5mm forecast for Thursday, but there is also a possibility of at least five consecutive days of rain.
"The forecast shows we will be looking at showers on and off from Thursday through to Monday," Mr Bennett said.
Thursday will also bring a massive drop in the maximum temperature, from 30C on Wednesday to 21C Thursday.
"Because we are going to have the cloud increasing during Wednesday, we are going to have probably pretty cloudy conditions on the Thursday and then the winds will start coming from the south-west so there will be much cooler air coming up and then as the system moves through there will be very cold air in behind that," Mr Bennett said.
Mr Bennett confirmed it would be Perth's coldest day since November and the cooler weather would last over the weekend.
"There will be a dramatic drop on Thursday down to 21C and then it will hover around the low to mid 20s right through until Monday," he said.
