The last time I logged onto this forum was on 9-3-2009, and I've sinced realized that my long time hiatus is the reason the Spurs have not won a championship since. In light of this magical season they are having, I thought it's about time I checked back in with the ol gang at Spurstalk and bring my good luck mojo with me! =)

Regardless of how the season ends up, Spurs fans need to remember how they felt back in September and if someone told them the following:

    1) Spurs would have the best record in the NBA by season's end
    2) Spurs would win 60+ games this season
    3) Spurs would win despite no significant play time from Tiago Splitter
    4) Spurs would have a healthy Ginobili for much of the season (*knocks wood)
    5) Spurs would have Tony Parker averaging 7+ assists
    6) Spurs would be winning despite playing Bonner/Blair together so often
    7) Spurs would have significant contributions from a rookie named Gary Neal
    8) Spurs wouldn't take so many nights off against sub .500 teams
    9) Spurs would win despite playing atrocious defense
    10) Spurs actually have a shot to make some noise in the playoffs

When I last logged in 2009, Spurs still had Bruce Bowen anchoring the Spurs perimeter defense, a healthy and more spry Tim Duncan anchoring the middle, a young still trying to prove himself Tony Parker wrecking havoc in the paint, and possibly one of the best closers in the NBA Manu Ginobili. Now...almost 2 years later, 3 out of 4 ain't too bad. Appreciate this ride guys.

I'm back on the wagon and can't wait to catch up with everyone. Here's to #5

P.S It's nice to see Laker fans still trolling the boards. Makes you realize they're still scared of the Spurs!

I've watched the Spurs enough to know that there's a method to Pop's madness. My guess is Pop believes the new re-vamped offense that will lead the Spurs to #5 is 3 point shooting. He knows that he needs Bonner to spread the floor, have the confidence to shoot the ball, and be the Robert Horry of the group in a way. Unfortunately with McDyess, Blair, and then Bonner in front of him...there's just not much room for Splitter.

Of course, I may not neccesarily agree with this logic, but that's part of what makes this season so unpredictable and magical.

Not sure about the magical season. But this is what you get when the big 3 stays healthy, the bench plays well.

And as we found out in the second half of the season when the bench started playing terrible and you take two pieces of the main whole you play like .

I have a good feeling about this season guys. I know its not how we are used to winning championships, but the spurs have proven themselves all season. I think they will really play hard and we will see a fighting dog in this years playoffs. Going to be fun. Welcome back dude.

Haha I am, I can't whine as much for 90% of the season considering how well the team is doing. , we didn't have our first meltdown on here until the 6 game losing streak.

Thankfully, this lack of Splitter topic is keeping the boards moving along

If we are relying on BONNER to be anywhere near Horry we are ed . He is just not that solid mentally to do it in the latter parts of the year, it is what it is with him, but he will get mins. I am more looking to Hill, Neal and maybe Blair to step up some, but him naw he is not that.
