I'm no Piston fan, but I believe he was injured at one time and got used to wearing it, so he still does.
Why does he still wear it?

He's hiding from the IRS.
He thinks he's Batman.
Maybe he's afraid that if he gets hit on the nose again, it would ruin his good looks.![]()
he wears the mask to hide the tears after the SPURS beat them down
His nose has been broken 3-4 times, and he had breathing issues with his last broken nose.
aww que lastima
Don't you people pay attention to my wonderful commercials? He's clearly masking his feelings.
Sincerely,
Dr. J
It's a proud Pistons tradition. Be afraid....

...be VERY afraid.
I am afraid...WNBA coaches frighten me.

its a tradition to be fairies?
He doesn't want to risk breaking his nose again requiring him to have surgery.
the sad thing is....Laimbeer has less armpit hair than his players!
(for the record...that was general WNBA smack not Detroit specific smack!)![]()
The only thing we should be afraid of is that he may want us to call he zero oops I mean zorro
I can't believe you all missed this one. Rip is actually the identical twin brother of Michael Jackson.
He still wears it now because he is supers ious. His nose is totally healed but he won the championship with that mask.
Masks are cool. You can paint 'em and make yourself look way mean and stuff.
Tim could paint Merlin's face on his. Manu could paint marudando...er...marunanando...err... pffft! Nazr could paint his to look like Ben Wallace. Horry could paint the Terminator. Parker could put some flowers and hearts and li'l bunnies 'n stuff. Bowen could paint his own face.
Just think of the marketing possibilities...
If I played in the Palace I'd want to have a splash guard on my face at all times to avoid flying Buds.
he wants to be an inspiration to young players like Joe Johnson in Phoenix.
Ahh... good clean trash talking.. this is what I like.
