Where's he at with his contract? Where's he at with management? Is this a win or your out type thing?

Popovich is to the Spurs what Mike Krzyzewski is to Duke.

Some Spurs fans, notably the ones for which IQ < 90, hate him because he fired some no-name coach eight and a half years ago, and because he cut some scrub guard named Vinny Del Negro in 1999, and because some sportswriter in San Antonio back in the '90s hated him and devoted every column to attacking his character until the newspaper fired him.

Coach K has a lifetime contract with Duke. He has a contract with them until he decided to leave.

Popovich has a long term deal; Popovich is the VP of Basketball Operations (super-GM, basically).

More than that, Pop and Tim Duncan are tight. I don't think Pop is going anywhere, regardless of what happens in this series.

I'm not sure about what year he's in on his contract but it's still got a few years left. And despite some of the attempts on this board to round up a lynch mob for him after we lost one game to the Suns, he's sitting pretty with the Spurs faithful right now. He took alot of heat for the Malik/Nazr trade in the press but he's looking like a damn genius right about now.

No one ever talks about the Spurs because they are a model of management tranquility compared to much of the league, including what's going on in Detroit right now. Although I think that's a bunch overhyped BS myself.

He is under contract for four more years. He's Executive Vice President of basketball operations as well as head coach and rules the Spurs. And this is not a win or your out series for him at all.

Despite what you might hear on this forum, no.

    Pop will retire here.

I respect the dude, and think he's great coach. I was just bopping around and read some crap saying it was a win or out thing with him. I figured it was b.s...That's too bad.

I swore to myself I wouldn't say squat about Brown until after the season.

You guys do know that he called Detroit after game 4, to tell Chauncey what a great game he played. It really picked him up after a couple of tough game 2 and 3.......Cool thing to do in my book.

Has a record better than any other current coach in league. Owner loves him; Front office likes him; players like and respect him; coaches around the league think he's one of their best; players around the league want to play for him and some, like Barry, will take a pay cut to come to SA.; knowledgeable baskeball writers and commentators respect him.

A few idiots here want to fire him after every loss. If he left, he'd be courted by lots of teams and could probably pick his spot.

Don't forget that Larry Brown and Pop are like father and son.

So does that make us... cousins?
