Would Duncan ever consider chasing a ring with say Boston or would he rather come up short in SA until its time to retire?
no but I can see him opting out of his contract this season, and signing for less money, and better constructed contract. That forsure he retires a Spur, and Spurs will have enough money to sign a quality free agent this summer. If there isn't a lockout.
Boston isnt gonna be a top team much longer either so he wont go there, or anywhere
But you gotta think with the addition of Duncan, even for 1 or 2 years, J.O, Shaq-whatever he can contribute and maybe the return of Sheed..2012 with a short year is in favor of Boston winning it all.
Come up short? He has four rings. What are you talking about?
Everybody wants to win, and win as much as possible. But come on bro....
Players who have rings usually don't chase them, and the only player who chases rings when they already have 4 is Shaq.
Tim has no reason to chase a ring. He's got 4. Generally people who chase rings are those who've never gotten one. Also, I don't see Tim signing another contract after this one expires.
You never know though.
Tim would never go to another team. There is literally no reason I can think of that he would ever find himself in another jersey at this late stage in his career. The spurs franchise owes too much to him to trade him, and he would probably resign from the NBA before playing for another team anyways.
if you trade duncan, duncan might as well hand in a letter dont retire my jersey or invite me to any SAS special events...fck that show some loyalty
hope not, he will never get a ring here. If a team like Miami or LA gives him a contract he should go
he gave this team 4 rings, Spurs should bow down to him
Completely irrelevant thread, there's a 99.99999% chance of Duncan retiring a Spur.
Duncan won't go out like Karl Malone.
lmao, if someone thinks that Duncan would leave Spurs to chase a ring.
He'd make a serviceable backup for Bynum.
Boston? WTF? They're pretty much done after this season or next. They don't have a better chance of getting to the Finals than the Spurs do since both Chicago and Miami are in the East...
+1
IMO it doesn't make sense to pay someone that much money with father time already affecting his play. I'm not exactly sure how much he makes a year. I think it's 16-18 million a year. correct me if I'm wrong.
I think Duncan has maybe 2-4 more years left. For less pay and minutes.
If he does opt out and sign for less money that would be the best thing for him to "chase" another ring.
Just like David Robinson. In 2001 Robinson re-signed with Spurs for a 2 year $20 Million contract.
Follow David's lead Duncan. Give someone a shot to help you win more rings. Either way it won't upset me.

5 star thread. Will recommend to friends.
Duncan's salary for the last two years of his current contract.
This season: $18,835,381
2011-2012: $21,164,619
Boston's also probably about to enter a another 20+ year le drought.
Duncan has early termination option ?
Yes. Sorry, should have included that with the salary info.
Duncan is not giving up 20+ million so the Spurs can give Bonner a max 100million deal
it would be kind of cool to see him on the heat, surrounded by the good players he deserves and see him win 2 more before retiring. i highly doubt though that he will opt out and bandwagon to the heat. he will go down with the sinking ship that is the spurs.
