I'm going to cancel my reservation, only because of that piece of sawed off shotty.

I HATED Gears 2, the last time I played it was a month after it came out. I wasn't bad at it either, I was a beast, checked my stats yesterday and I won 89 matches and had 24 losses with a 2.3 KD ratio.

I'm a ing beast in Gears 3, took me about 2 hours to get used to it but after that I just rape teams by myself regardless of their level. After a day of playing it I've got 1600+ kills and 800+ deaths, and 44 MVPs out of the 130 matches I've played. Although I'm good at it I just can't stand the sawed off. Whoever came up with that needs to be slapped.

All people do with the sawed off is hide behind walls like pussies and pop out to shoot when you get close enough and if they miss they'll run and hide behind a wall yet again, they do the over and over and over again. They won't rush you either, you have to come to them and when you do it's a 1 shot death, it's really frustrating and boring. I mean I bought the game to have fun, but these mother ers play this like if they die in the game they'll die in real life.

You cannot really blame them for using their brain when they play. It is a solid tactic.

The best way to counter something like this is teamwork. Actual team players are hard to find on the internet unless you have a group of friends who all play together all the time. I will use CoD which is what I play most of the time to better explain what I mean. (I was a former MLG compe or so I have pretty decent strategy I suppose.)

Most MMOFPS have the same basic principles concerning spawn points, and spawn switches. In CoD, when a certain percentage of your team crosses the halfway point in the map the spawn point will change to negate spawn camping. What we would do is first make sure EVERYONE on our team understood this. This is something that you will need to have the people you play with understand because it prevents the enemy from spawning behind your positions. This strategy basically is what everyone should use. We would use snipers very well by taking out the enemy before they could set up a position. This would give us the lead. Our defense would then be set and it would force the enemy to come to us in order to win the match. With all of our players in predesignated positions to offer maximum firepower and flank protection, the slaughter began because all the entry points were covered by normally 2 different reticules.

If those ers keep using a smart tactic like that, get the lead using speed and crack distance shooting/grenades, while positioning your team. They won't be able to use it anymore because in order to win, or increase their K ratio or KPM, they have to come to you.

If you don't have the lead, don't move out on your own, always have someone covering your movement (prefereably a sniper or someone with a long range weapon with 1 shot kill capability) to potentially lure an enemy out of cover. If 2 enemies appear, the ranged guy could possibly get 2 kills for 1 lost teammate. If it is just one, it could even out and the location of the defender is given away. If he is killed or moved out of position, don't take his position, instead just guard the entrances to get there. Campers/turtlers are notorious for wanting to get to their "sweet spot". You should get a few kills depending on how stubborn he is. Then once the lead is gained, fall back to your predesignated position with your team.

If you are playing against pug groups, and are on a regular disciplined team, you will win virtually every time because most online gamers want to be a hero instead of just winning.

Don't only think of a battlefield as just eliminating your opponents like a chess game. You also have to be able to control the battlefield by being able to occupy the most space without stretching yourself too thin. Kinda like the game Go.

This brings up a big complaint that I have with online games. Not going directly at you Hook so don't take it that way.. actually just something you said brought up something I was thinking about a lot recently.

Online gaming is like this... if you don't play the game the way that the other individual plays you pretty much "suck". Example.. Mortal Kombat.. You notice the head doesn't block a certain move so you keep on throwing it at him.. you are now a spammer.. you suck and get angry email. You play defensive you are a turtler and you suck and get a nasty email.. To many people use smoke/squirpion/sub zero.. he's your favorite guy that you have been manning from the begining.. you pick that person youre a p.o.s. Black ops you pick the best gun in the game (ak74u/ famas) youre a tool/ have no skill/ ing noob for using the best gun in the game... which god forbid you would actually want to use the best weapon.. that's crazy thinking it's it?

I just get sick of the fact that people expect you to play the game their way.. and god for bid you don't and beat them playing a different way.. youre a p.o.s noob.. and hey if you actually do play their way and beat them.. well.. there was just lag.

They ed it up with gears 2, all they needed to do was iron out the flaws in Gears 1 MP and it would of been amazing.

That's one of the things that bugged me about CoD, to be honest. It was not really balanced for team deathmatch. Too easy to lock down a position on a map and just hold it. The enemy can never break you unless they get seriously lucky or are significantly more skilled than you are. Being in bad position is tantamount to dying a whole of a lot.

If you are playing against pug groups, and are on a regular disciplined team, you will win virtually every time because most online gamers want to be a hero instead of just winning.
Heh, man I loved it when a pug group would join my clan's server thinking they were about to pick off a bunch of noobs. We normally took bets in vent about how many rounds they would stay before getting tired of losing.

What kit did you use in CoD4? I had a few that I commonly went with: Silenced G4/bandolier/UAV and Dead silence in pub, or Deep impact/extreme conditioning for clan matches and map dependent. If I was playing farther back, I used an RPD with standard sights, frag x3, sleight of hand, and deep impact. Literally a perfect suppressive fire weapon, although not as useful against really solid players.

    ----------------

Back on topic, I look for GoW3 to be a standard console shooter with good gameplay and good graphics. Nothing more, nothing less. The single player mode will probably be excellent though, no denying that.

Hasn't TDM always been about locking down positions and/or items? It was always that way in Quake...

That's what Team Deathmatch is if you're on a good team with communication, it's not as fun as run n' gun but the results are much better. Kinda like in the NBA.

Agree about GoW3, the single player for both the previous games has been awesome, this looks to be no different.

Perhaps. But Counterstrike, for example, the levels were usually so well thought out that a team on the move could actually take advantage of an entrenched enemy to smoke/flash them to pieces.

That's one reason that I think the Battlefield series is just amazing for gameplay, although I haven't played at a high level at all. If they're trying to entrench a position it becomes extremely easy to bust them out of it. Sniping tanks, air strikes, good sniping, RPGs with wider effect... seems much harder to hold a defensive position in BC2 and CS 1.6 than it does in CoD4, where you respawn so quickly and can return to the defensive position so fast that by the time you're broken you're already 200 points ahead of the enemy.

I played a game of Black Ops where the other team camped on a rock and didn't move the whole match. Our teammates kept saying, "Don't move and they won't kill you."

I finally said to the guy "So, I'm playing a match to NOT move at all, or basically, not play? this."

I jumped on MW2 because while you have noob toobers to deal with, the camping is not as frequent as in Black Ops. Sometimes the best way to get a camping team is to rush them from odd angles.

I'll throw a running class with Ninja Pro on and just come at them from odd angles. I may get killed the first or second time, but it's enough to reveal their position and tactics and from there, I'm damn good with a semtex, especially a blind throw over a wall.

Sometimes it's best to get a riot shield, rush their spot and camp a corner with the blast shield on. A lot of players don't have a clue to do with you then. And they get so occupied with trying to root you out of the corner in their spot that the rest of your team can flank them from behind and take them out.

One time just to with the other team, we all had riot shields. We camped a corner with some people crouched, some standing with the shield angled to protect from choppers and harriers. The entire team didn't know what the to do. We just laughed our asses off the whole match and afterward the other team just kept asking, "What the were you all doing?"

Well, I hated CS so I can't really comment on anything but Jeepathon. Quake was really all about the quad/armor all the time be it TDM or CTF, but I enjoyed CTF a lot more, it was much less campy unless you were the anchor on D. But you could also drop items in Quake 1/2, which added some nice strategic elements.

In CoD4 I was normally the squad primary sniper. I actually liked the M21 with Stopping power/Deep impact/bomb squad, deagle. I didn't need iron lungs because I didn't need to aim long. Bomb Squad was especially useful because I could call out enemy locations just by detecting their equipment and such.

When I was needed to be a grunt I always chose the G3. That gun rules. I prefer semi-automatic due to the high damage and extremely good accuracy, with only small recoil. Headshots rule. The only time I would use the more covert perks and attachments are when my team has to go on the offensive. Other than that, I like letting people know where I am. It makes it easier to predict enemy movement.

The RPD was easily the best LMG gun. I can't blame you for taking it. If you are great with the iron sights, it could be as good as a sniper rifle.

That's why I explained that I'm a beast at Gears 3, I kill a lot of sawed off users but the way they play is just boring. I mean I bought the game to have fun, that's why I play video games, to have fun, but some people take the game way too seriously, to where they sacrifice the fun just so they can win a match. I don't mind campers and like that when you're playing a clan match but during a regular match?

This is how ALL the sawed off shot gun users play:

-Hide behind walls, Pop out when someone comes by to shoot them. If you miss, run like there is no tomorrow and hide behind another wall and force the person to rush you. You miss again, run again and repeat.

I don't know about you, but I hate doing repe ive stuff, and that is repe ive.

I don't know about the shotgun being overpowered in gears 2. I was pretty successful using the lancer and grenades to flank and seal off the other team. Don't know if I'll get gears 3. Looks to be more of the same.
