Duncan is going to play his most valuable series but it will not be recognized by the casual fan. As a team player, he will draw all the attention, grab 12 -15 boards a night, block key shots, but get limited to about 20 PPG.

He will defer to Manu (as will Parker somewhat). Manu will be the one wiry and gritty X factor that even the Pistons will not stop.

Mr. Manu - MVP of finals in NBA. He lives for such moments. Mark it down.

No way. In a slower tempo game against one of the league's best one-on-one defenders?

If the Spurs are going to win the series, Duncan will have to be MVP.

It's possible that Manu or even Tony can win MVP, but not likely at all.

As has been said, for the Spurs to get over the Pistons, Tim needs to be MVP.

I disagree. I expect the Pistons to use single-coverage on Tim in the first three quarters, and focus on shutting down Tony and Manu. The idea will be not to let those two get any sort of offensive rhythm, so that when the Pistons start pressuring Tim in the fourth, it's hard for the other Spurs to make plays.

Their plan would be similar to what the Spurs used against Phoenix, but at a much slower pace.

So Tim will average close to 30 a game, but Tony and Manu will likely be held below their season averages -- maybe 25 combined.

If the Spurs win, Duncan will be the MVP.

I want Tim to win it, but Ill be very happy for Manu if he does. Really as long as we win it doesn't matter.

Agree with MI21. The spurs are not likely to beat the Pistons if Manu outplays Duncan.

I really don't care if Tony Massenburg gets the MVP in the finals as long as at the end of the day it's the Spurs with the Larry O' Brien Trophy.

I agree with Extra Stout -- the Pistons aren't going to double Tim unless it's late in the game. Manu, as well as Tony, need to have a good series but I think Tim will average closer to 30 than to 20 ppg.

Finals mvp is possible, but I have a feeling Manu is going to do something special this series, whether it be a spectacular shot/game winner/defensive stop, i know its going to happen.

    Manu will be double-teamed?
Manu will do the shot-blocking this time?
Manu will be the the highest rebounder?
Manu will do the all-around game?
it doesn't matter if Duncan's ankles will give in before the series is over and he'll sit?

    if so, then.........

    Maybe.

Either Duncan or Manu will be MVP, no doubt about that.

Duncan probably has better chances though, since he is the leader of the team, but I'm sure Manu is fine with that. Finals MVP...I could care less if they didn't have the award...the only thing that is important is the trophy, and a ring!
