Yes, some would argue that its all about the Defense.

    But in reality:

    Its all about determination!

    Its all about desire!

    Its all about drive!

Its all about defending world champions!

    Its all about Deeeeeetroit Basketball!

Yes, the Spurs are more talented than the Pistons. This I concede. However, the Piston's have "intangibles". Just when you count them out, they win. When they have dug a big hole they claw their way out.

No offense, I respect your Spurs. Its just that somehow the Pistons will find a way to win. If you don't believe it now, you will believe it later.

The Pistons will just plain sneak up on you. Don't take it personally!

Yeah, the Spurs don't have any of those intangibles. No, we don't have players with grit or determination who finish games in clutch situations. Say like when they go down, injuring their remaining good ankle to have the opposing crowd cheer the injury and boo when he hobbles up, only to refuse to be taken from the game and to score the winning basket. Or take hard, hard fouls all series to continue to get up and play without complaint. Nope, none of our guys will willingly sit on the bench when they used to start and continue to give 100% every game. None of our guys have pushed on even when we were down to try and get out a hole and scraped by the win. None of our guys actually want to win. They would rather be sleeping.

You are so right!. All we have going for us is that we are the better team.

Look, the Pistons are a great team, and they do have the desire. But come on - desire and determination do not win series. Ask the Suns.

Do the Pistons intangibles include a willingness to about officiating, draw torrents of technical fouls, speculate about conspriacies, and pay out huge fines?

Actually, I have a great deal of respect for the Pistons and the Piston organization. Bill Davidson stepped up big time when Timmy got hurt at the Palace. The Pistons tend to play big when they must and they are probably the best put-away team in the league right now. The Spurs have their hands full here.

That pretty much only applies to (Mister T) Rashweed Wallace.

Very true. The organization is a great one. The players are generally good. The fans? Well, every team's got their problem children.

But what they did there was a classy, generous thing.

Yup. Timmy showed absolutely no determination and heart by getting up and continuing to play despite his pain, just so his team could win the game.

To whoever started this thread, Tim Duncan taking the crowd's cheers when he was grabbing his ankle in pain as motivation to keep playing is determination, if I ever saw one.
How can you come in here and proclaim that the Pistons are the only team that has determination, desire and drive, when you obviously don't know a damn thing about what the Spurs are all about and what they have had to go through to get where they are today. The next time you want to make such a bold statement like that, try watching a few Spurs games beforehand, and maybe you won't be judged as a complete idiot.

Oh yeah, and no offense to you either.

Keep your weak-ass Eastern Conference intangibles, because the ass whipping about to be delivered to Detroit will be quite tangible. You'll be able to point to the causes quite clearly. Manu will freak you out with improbable penetrating shots, then when you collapse to stop him, he'll drain threes. At some point in this series, you'll get on a roll, get your hopes up and then a rebound will get tapped out to Robert Horry who will sink a shot that will make you cry. Tony Parker will get to the rim faster than 'Sheed can spew explitives at a postgame news conference. Tim will double-double every freakin' game. Bruce Bowen will lock down Rip Hamilton, though Rip will claim he was just missing easy, open shots. You'll be held to record low points. All of those things will be tangible. TIVO it if you like so you can recount the ways the Pistons shrunk on the measuring stick of great teams.

Nah, Sheed's not a thug. He's a very good basketball player. He just loses control of his emotions sometimes and that hurts him and his team when he does.
