Why is it that conservatives insist on Bush getting credit for "laying the groundwork" for getting UBL (even though Obama has been in office for 2 years now), but they won't acknowledge Bush laid the groundwork for the recession and economic meltdown we are still fighting are way out of 2 years later? Not to mention when the towers came down, Conservatives insisted it was Clinton's fault a successful attack was launched by UBL...even though Bush was in office for over 2 years
I do agree Bush and Barack both deserve credit for getting this asshole btw
No idea.
Bush and Obama deserve credit for getting bin Laden.
Bush and Clinton deserve blame for 9/11 and the economic meltdown (and possibly even Bush 1 on the economy).
It's rather obvious.
It's rare that something is only a single President's work, good or bad.

"Debate over origins"
all bull
They want to give him credit for this but won't give Bush credit for the debt he left.
lol -- and Obama tripled it.
That's the point.
Obama had to do one thing that was more than Bush now, didn't he?
Bush doubled the national debt, almost tripled it, Obama saved the economy, along with the dollar, a major American company along with millions of American jobs for a little over 2 trillion...
Pretty simple, wing-nuts are missing the gene that allows them to take the blame for anything...nothing is ever their fault...

/QUOTE]
holdon there...clinton left a surplus for bush to play with, so you blaming clinton for the debt?
[QUOTE=TDMVPDPOY;5210487]I'm still waiting to hear how Clinton was responsible for 9/11 too
I know that Darrin is usually pretty stupid but this is bad even for him. Bush leaves with a debt at about 10.75 trillion. Right now its at about 14 trillion. Can someone tell me how the thats a tripling it?
Actually, I believe Bush's debt went from 5.95T to about 11.6T while obama has taken the debt to about 14.2T....
Rush said it!
Can you explain how he saved the dollar, please?
leaving it low to increase demand for ur exports, but whose actually buying ur when you run by ur set of ty laws compared to the EU and others, no one wants to buy ur agriculture products cause its GM crap injected with hormone crap
even with the increase in exports, mainly other products, how m uch of that money is gong back to the country in taxes or are they transit into foreign owned companies offshores in tax haven countries....doesnt really make a difference
the value of the dollar is not even worth the paper its printed on
You Lie
Obama's first budget was actually smaller than dubya's last budget.
The DEFICIT was tripled by dubya, his wars, his DHS of 230K losers, his tax cuts, and HIS Banksters' Great Depression cratered tax receipts at all govt levels.
Runaway spending is just another Repug lie to cut taxes for the wealthy and corps. Govt portion of the GDP is lower now than in 1977.
I love this thread.
I think the ONLY reason Obama spent more money was because of the wars and the only way for the Govt to save a failing economy is to increase govt spending.......because NO ONE ELSE is spending. Its basic economics........and educated people know that.
Go Obama..............you got my vote.
..........and I voted for Ron Paul last time.
That graphic doesn't show a tripling of the national debt nor the debt Bush left. Anyone with simply math skills already knows you're an idiot but if you can produce an explanation go for it.
You think Surplus/Deficit are the only issues involving the economy?
Clinton passed into law quite a bit of what led to the housing market collapse, and several other similar legislations led to a market conducisive to the type of crappy mechinations that led to the collapse.
And Clinton's "surplus" was bull anyway. He stripped the SS trust dry, converting the hard currency to treasury notes, to pay down debt leaving us with a SS trust that won't be able to collect those notes because of the current deficit. Clinton's policies created a short term boom at the expense of long-term stability.
Bush screwed it up even worse. He didn't enforce regulation like he should have, and he allowed the defecit to balloon to a tipping point. And really, some of the problematic legislation dated back to Bush 1, hence my inclusion in him as well.
Again, laws passed during Clinton's years inhibited the flow of information between intelligence agencies. In addition, the Clinton administration had several chances to take out bin Laden, but didn't fearing political reprisal if it turned into an unpopular act. Also, the intelligence community under Clinton recognized several of the perpetrators of 9/11 as potential terrorists, but never followed up on the report.
Most of the blame for 9/11 definitely falls on the Bush administration, which even admits they had no focus on terrorism before 9/11, but Clinton had the capability of disrupting the plan as well and chose not to act.

As I said, only rarely is anything a single president's fault.
