“With regard to the idea whether or not you have a right to health care you have to realize what that implies. I am a physician. You have a right to come to my house and conscript me. It means you believe in slavery. You are going to enslave not only me but the janitor at my hospital, the person who cleans my office, the assistants, the nurses. … You are basically saying you believe in slavery,” said Paul (R-Ky.), who is an ophthalmologist.

I'd like to hear his plan for what people really want: Affordable access to care.
But I guess we'll have to do with hearing his slavery rhetoric instead.

Here's another doozie from the same hearing:

"You have a right to beat down my door with the police, escort me away and force me to take care of you. That’s ultimately what the right to free health care would be."

Yeah, Rand. It's not like you can leave the profession. The police will take you away, stick a gun to your head, and tell you 'heal'.

What a ing idiot this guy is.

A 'right to paid care' (as opposed to a 'right to free care') would be the same thing, wouldn't it? Or is he saying he only has a problem being escorted by the police and forced to care for people if it's free?

No one ever accused Rand Paul of possessing acute judgment or outstanding intellectual heft. IMHO he's in no evident danger of dislodging that impression now.

What's pretty clear is that Washington pays better than caring for patients...

Median salary for medical specialists is something like $300K+

Although Rand probably didn't make that because he wasn't board certified, so he created a "board" and certified himself.
