big ben deserved it...so did bruce bowen though....td too IF he hadn't gotten hurt.
I keep hearing all the spurs fans saying ben doesn't deserve dpoy and its a bogus award and its proven because he won't guard Duncan. Ok first and foremost if your DPOY it doesn't mean you have to guard the other teams best man, Ben is literally 6'8 but listed at 6'9 and duncan is taller and stronger but Rasheed matches up well. Ben is the best zone defender in the league and you can ask any coach, yes even greg popovich how important ben is as a defender. He is arguably the most feared defender in the league because teams hesistate to drive when hes in the lane.
Artest won DPOY last year, does that mean he should guard Duncan or Shaq if he played the spurs or heat?
Shaq called out ben saying IF YOUR DPOY SHOW ME... well then I guess Shaq is saying that Elden Campbell is the TRUE DPOY because shaq only made one field goal in 7 games when Elden was guarding him.
Ben does all the little things you don't notice and he does deserve defensive player of the year because he's the key and heart and soul to our defense. No ben isn't the greatest 1 on 1 defender but he can still play great 1 on 1 defense and is the best zone defender in the league.
And both pistons fans and spurs fans should shut up about both teams beating teams with injuries... injuries are a part of the game
Do you want the pistons to wait for wade to heal? Should the spurs take it easy on the sonics or suns b/c joe johnson and rashard are out? its part of the game and I don't want to hear that the pistons are a fluke team... 2 years in a row to the finalsa nd winning a game 7 on the road...
I'm very excited about this series because both teams play exacty alike but I'm just worried for the Pistons because the Spurs have so much depth, and they rented glenn robinson to try and win a championchip... i respect everyone on the spurs team except glenn robinson because he doesn't deserve one as he joined the spurs late in the season and doens't work hard

Actually Robinson has been working very hard on this Spurs team.... Being as you are not a Spurs fan I doubt that you have watched more than a handful of games that he has played for us in....To answer whether or not I think Big Ben deserves DPOY...uhhh No, Bruce Bowen is an awesome defender who should have won it THIS year... Not saying he is not a great defensive player....

I think the case could be made that both Ben and Bruce's defensive reputations have benefited greatly from the guys playing around them. I've always thought this was the most nebulous of the post season awards because an MVP's statline always looks good. But just because a guy has a lot of blocks, steals, or boards doesn't necessarily mean that he earned all of them. Or that a guy without the big stat line didn't make an impact. Does Wallace benefit from having a group of guys who can force players into him? Sure. Does Bowen benefit from having shot blockers clog the paint? Of course. I still feel that Bowen should have won, but Wallace is certainly deserving.
OK, let's have a contest.
I say TD scores more on Ben than Rip scores on Bruce.
This will tell us just who the real DPOY is.
You can't mess with Ben's defensive #'s. If anyone is gonna try to say he shouldn't have been the DPOY then you're outta your skull. Ben changes games by his defense like very few who's came before him.

Bowen should have won it last year as well. And that is not being biased.

Like I've said a gazillion times...morons just watch the obvious things like blocked shots. Why Bowen will never get DPOY...most people can't comprehend that defense means other things besides blocked shots.

It's not hard to look like a great defensive player when you play a defense that funnels everything toward you. Same as Ray Lewis is an overrated linebacker, he plays in a system made to funnel things to the middle linebacker.

Ben is 6-9? I always thought he was 7. Nazr's 7 feet, so maybe he can abuse "Big" Ben.
