Another year, another Manu playoff injury.
The Grizz WERE better than the Spurs.
the over-dramatic/bone sticking-out-of-skin/sectioned-bone "broken arm" here means only a hairline fracture.
My guess is the muscle and ligament injury had much worse effect (pain, restricted movement) than a tiny fracture.
Ginobili averaged 20 points playing with a broken arm?
And the legend grows.
another year and another pop playoff brain fart......but, but , he won us four rings, he can do no wrong.
And he still played better than any other Spur.
Not recognizing the negative effect Manu's injury had on the series is pretty ridiculous. It's not an excuse, just a fact.
The legend huh? I assume its not the China Doll syndrome that you're referring to.
The Manu chugging will reach new levels with this thread.
What?
Riding Duncan's coattails to three rings..
Another reason for Parker to STFU
Why? Parker actually stays healthy.
I just think its cheap for someone who didn't show up until game 4 to say to world media that Manu's age is why the spurs can't win anymore, when Manu carried the team with a (now learned) broken bone in his elbow.
And he wanted to play in game 1 as well
Physically, maybe although he's not exactly the one man fast break he used to be. Mentally, not so much if the Eva/Barry situation is of any indication![]()
Which makes it even more pathetic that he played far worse than Manu against Memphis.
He didn't do a very good job "carrying" the team with a broken arm.
Manu is a great player, but so is Parker. There's no reason to favor one over the other as they've both made great plays that led to les. Sure, Parker was not so great in a couple of games this series but if not for Manu's foul in 06 we're winning 3 les in a row. But his 3 put them in that position to begin with.
See the point?
He played fine all season. That situation didn't seem to harm him at all.
I see what you're saying, and Parker is an important part of the team for sure, I just think it sounded like he was trying to absolve himself from any blame as to why the Spurs can't compete for les anymore and it's all because Manu and Tim are too old. Dallas is the oldest team in the league and may yet win it all. Spurs had bad luck with injuries right at the end of the season, too many players played poorly, and Memphis was energized and hungry. I don't think age is a good excuse, more like a cop-out.
all in a meaningless last regular season game. in pop![]()
Manu is a bad mofo... mad props.
Yea for me Tony's stock is pretty low right now after playing terribly in the playoffs, his recent quotes, and the unhealthy Eva/Barry situation. Not much to like there as a fan tbh.
Damn shame the Spurs ran into injuries at the end of the season but then again Memphis didn't have Rudy Gay either.
I'm not surprised by this report. The arm bent way back as Grant Hill forced his way over the top of Timmy's screen.
The Spurs needed others besides Manu to step their game up. It just didn't happen. Credit the Grizzlies. They played inspired.
Thank you! And these stupid s at espn who said the Spurs were not as good as their record, are calling this the greatest upset ever. And our best player was injured. And the grizz are pretty good, gotta be the best 8 seed ever so how is that the greatest upset ever?
