I'm going to take "Lucky lottery balls" for $500, Alex
Lets say Pete Holt was forced to replace his beloved Popped and/or Bumford with Pat. In fact lets just say Holt, Bumford and Popped got run in a scandal and a new good owner took over.
How many Championships do the Spurs amass?

Pat Riley would never go to San Antonio.
to borrow from another poster on this forum ...
Did a Kareem, Worthy, Magic, Wilkes make Riley look better than he is?
Did a Shaq and Wade make Riley look better than he is?
Riley is a "d" bag in the perfect spot right now with a team of who has the biggest "d" bag in the league (lebron) in a town full of "d" bags. Why would he leave a "d" bag city for a non "d" bag town?
if riley was so good how come he couldnt win with a stack knicks team?
Summer of 2005.
And a leading, if not the leading vote getter for "d" bag of 2005-2011 and beyond currently holds the position of tater for the Spurs.
Riley would never come to San Antonio.
Agreed.
We don't stock enough pomade.
Of course. Where would squinty eyed Phil Jackson be without Jordan, Pippen and then Bob Delaney, Snaq, Joey Crawford, and then yet a third time without Chris Wallace-Gasol, Crawford and co again.
No arguments here on having players.
Yet Pat and Phil repeated, threepeated.
Think either one of them is going to march out Mike Finley, Matty Bonner and Soft J as the powerforward? Me either.
Think either of them would ever deign to work in a small market? Me either.
The "small market blues" card is starting to see circulation. Desperate times for popsucker and crew I guess..
And we all know Pop had no choice but to resign both useless post season performers Jefferson & Bonner to some 55 million dollars over the next 4 years.
Which small markets has Riley coached or GMed at?
Give us the list, TJ.
/thread.
Riles, much like Phil, is an egomaniac who craves the limelight on the biggest stages.
Summer of 2005 the Spurs were the limelight of the NBA.
All indications of a repeat (at least), excellent chance at mini dynasty run (3-4, 4-5 or 4-6)if they had a real coach and GM.
Enter Pop-n-Fins, Matty Bonner, goodbye Scola, Spanoulis, small balls, Soft and the PollyAnna Poppers sucking for all they are worth. Watch a WWE show with a burqua and mascara wearing puppet.

Give us the list, Fabbs.
So do I get an award for getting the correct answer? I want my award all nice and spiffy next to my name like yours so people will see it and the off chance they don't I can casually mention it once or twice a day.
Are you actually going to answer this time?
Please, go ahead.
When I said limelight, I meant winning in the biggest markets. Riles is an LA-NY-MIA guy. It would be completely against the norm and unfathomable to see Riles come to San Antonio, given his track record.
To answer your original hypothetical, I think the Spurs would've repeated, since Riles stresses defense first, and would never have softies like RJ and Bonner on the team (and if he did, they'd be gone soon, not re-signed).
Limelight Fabbs. Meaning big market, not HEB marketplace.
So no door prizes even? Not even a spurstalk t-shirt or something?
Are you actually going to answer this one?
