I just got my iAudio 9 from Amazon and I'm hoping ya Cowon users can help me with my issue. My personal ear buds that I use don't sound good with the iAudio9. The sound that comes out is distorted and it sounds really bad . My headphones are Klipsch s4. I also tried my brothers Skull Candy headphones and the same thing happens, and when I use the headphones that came in the package with the iAudio9 they work fine. WTF.So do the Cowon's only work with their own headset?

Is the metal tip longer on the Klipsch than the others? Sounds like you're not getting a good connection in the headphone jack.

Just by going off what you posted, it sounds like it's a proprietary sort of deal. I can't imagine why they would do that if that is the case.

I checked the metal length on all the headphones I mentioned and they are the same length but I did notice that the Klipsch and the Skull Candies have three rings that go around the metal and the ones that came with the iaudio9 has two. I tested my dad's earbuds that he got from his mp3 player and does do work and they too have two rings around the metal part. Should the rings even make a difference? It looks like I'm gonna need new earbuds for my running.

I got the klipsch to work now. I have to insert the metal part of the Klipsch earbuds all the way in then pull it out at the right spot to make them work. sucks cause I have to play with it till i hit the spot, like a vagina.

Thought that might be it. I had an old pair of earbuds i used with my iPhone 4 that had three rings. It took out the liquid damage indicator in there, but then I got some new ones. They looked at me funny when I got my phone swapped, but they did it since the internal indicator wasn't triggered. Sucks they don't fit right on the new PMP, sorry dude.

I wouldn't recommend doing that for any length of time. you're basically shorting out your headphone connection little by little. I'd consult the manual, their website, or someone from their customer service department to see if that's normal. You said you just got this, I'd take it back and switch it out. It's only working on the included pair of phones. Normally, included headphones aren't that special on a tech sheet. I'm assuming your Klipsch pair is of better quality than the included pair. Makes no sense that the unit is too much for your included pair at a normal volume. I can't think of anything past those first steps.

huh? I thought the third ring is because it was a headset that carried voice to the phone and audio from the phone, then the stereo feed.

i was thinking about my old iPod video, the third ring carried video. But the headphones i used for a while did do something to the iPhone 4 headphone jack, and i quit using them

I'm fukin pissed. after 5 months the iaudio 9 screen cracked from the inside and Cowon wants another 100 bucks for the repair. They said pressured caused it to crack. fuking putos can go eat a turtle. I had my audio9 in my pocket at work through out the day and didn't do anything strenuous to cause it to crack except pick up a simple box. I feel theyre just trying to pull more money out of my ass. What a .

Sucks dude. Some people hate Apple, but my 80 GB iPod Classic has taken a beaten and still works. The click wheel is acting up a little (the forward and select portions of the wheel) but that's problem from just overuse over the years. I know a place in town that does iPod repairs fairly cheap. They fixed the headphone jack for $60 when everyone else wanted over $200.

I've had my 80 GB iPod video for 5 years and have never had a problem with it, and it will still play audio for 16 hours in a row. It sits in my bedroom hooked up to an old receiver and speakers.
