Hope your right.
I hope Ginobili does more fronting and denying Prince the ball on sunday.
That is the ONLY matchup defensively, that scares me.
If Ginobili could get Prince in foul trouble, that would be fantastic.
Kobe was more of a jump shooter and not as much of a slasher. These type of players Prince can handle but if you put Wade or Ginobili in there it is a completely different story. These players can hit the outside shot but if you get close to them they will go right by you. They are more like slashers and that is what gives Prince trouble.

Would you consider T-Mac a slasher? Tayshaun's first major minutes were when they put him on McGrady in the first round '03; it worked out very nicely.
Kobe can drive but he chose not to and it takes a special kind of slasher to go through the Pistons defense with B. Wallace there. Kobe chose to settle for 3 pointers which fits Prince's style of long arms and height.
Tracy Mcgrady shoots damn near all jump shots r u kiddin me.Would you consider T-Mac a slasher? Tayshaun's first major minutes were when they put him on McGrady in the first round '03; it worked out very nicely.
i think it would be really hard for Manu to slash next time... they're just putting on three guys on him whenever he gets iso on someone... (like zone)
Mcgrady at his best can't be stopped. He is an unbelievable player and I would consider him better than Kobe.
Thats fine.think it would be really hard for Manu to slash next time... they're just putting on three guys on him whenever he gets iso on someone
Duncan, Horry, Parker, or Bowen will be open.
Bowen wont go 0-6 the next game either.
Bowen is expending alot of energy on Hamilton so don't expect him to shoot a high percentage this series. This is why I think San Antonio will win is because you don't have to put any scorers against Hamilton.
Billups 25 Pts, and you're worried about Prince???
Get back to the treadmill.![]()
If he keeps getting wide open threes like that, he is gonna make em.Bowen is expending alot of energy on Hamilton so don't expect him to shoot a high percentage this series
Next game if he gets 6 wide open shots again, he will go 2 of 6 or 3 of 6 easy.
If he goes 3 of 6 last night its 93 69
a total domination.
Get back to the treadmill?? uh ok.Billups 25 Pts, and you're worried about Prince???
Get back to the treadmill
Yeah I am worried about Prince, cause Billups is gonna move the ball around more in game 2 and Prince and Wallace will get alot more shots.
I still feel confident in the Spurs winning, and probobly by a larger mragin.
Hamilton is probably the best conditioned athlete in the nba. It's a good thing you have a player like Bowen who is willing to chase Hamilton all over the screens. Eddie Jones also had a bad series against Detroit so fatigue I think is an issue.
Eddie Jones had a bad series, because he is a perrenial playoff choker.
Once again, Bowen will not miss all 6 shots, if given 6 shots.
umm ... defense anyone?
Eddie Jones looked pretty good in the first 2 rounds. Some players might struggle once in a while but putting E. Jones on Hamilton all the time didn't help.
By the way Mcgrady did a good job on Nowitzki.
^ A very good job on Nowitizki who didn't heat up until they got to the Suns.
Marion has always had Dirks number. It is possible to have a good defensive player on a bad defensive team. Just don't assume that a player isn't good defensively on the suns or mavs or any team that struggles with giving up points.
Tayshaun does fare better against jumpshot oriented scoring guards. HOWEVER, he does as well as any perimeter defender against the likes of Manu and Dwyane Wade.
Look at how well Manu did in the first half. 4 points. Tayshaun did not play in the second quarter, but he played Manu well in the first quarter.
While Manu Ginobili is a very special player and will give Tayshaun Prince plenty of problems throughout the series, you should also consider that Tayshaun was out of sync in the second half, and I think the Miami series and heavy minutes caught up to a number of the Pistons starters, more specifically Tayshaun and Ben. The help defense of the Pistons was not quite up to par in the second half, as early in the game Manu's drives were much more contested and even blocked a few times.
Now, it's not an excuse for the loss. Nor is it to say that Manu won't still play well the rest of the series. I'm just saying that I think Tayshaun can play better defense than he showed in the second half of game 1. And, I think Detroit as a whole will play better in game 2. Even though game 1 turned out to be a very lopsided game, remember it WAS a 4 point game after three quarters. The game was decided in the fourth quarter, where the factor of tired legs and effects of the Miami series would most likely show.
Just take that into consideration before making all these assumptions and assertions about Tayshaun Prince defending Manu Ginobili.
I'm not saying Ginobili will go off on Prince but Prince does seem to struggle against slashers. Wade was an example. These 2 player seem to go off on everyone so I don't see anything special Prince can do.
