I think it has something to do with no father in the home and a mom who couldn't raise him alone. Kobe had the pop who made him tough and mentally strong. Kobe's mom kicked his ass. Bron didn't have none of that. Kobe handled it all in stride. He took on Shaq which was unheard of , even after Shaq slapped his ass in practice Kobe kept gunning for his crown. He took on Colorado, the punk ass media, the lying and more. No way Bron could handle that kind of pressure.

With each passing moment Bron makes Kobe's legacy grow. People starting to give my boy props and I know it must hurt they ass to do so...

Wade was always Kobe lite. With one more Lebron post season loss coupled with one more Kobe le the floodgates of love will open up to Kobe and laker fan.

I'm just tickeled pink over this..I'm real giddy...

People compare him to Jordan not Kobe. It's stupid but they make it all about Jordan when it comes to Bron..

LeBron cares too much about the opinion of other people. And not just fans or the media. He cares what his teammates think. He wants to be their friend first, teammate second. Kobe doesn't give a what other people think, not fans, not the media, not his teammates. He cares about himself and his legacy and winning in order to enhance himself and his legacy. Kobe doesn't give a if people laugh at his 6-for-24. He doesn't care if you think he's a rapist or that he's a bad teammate. He cares how NBA history will perceive him, but not how he's perceived by the public. LeBron cares too much. He cares about his public image and media perception. He cares too much. If he cared only about basketball and winning, it would probably help him a great deal becoming a more mentally tough player. But he wants to be liked.

Don't forget Dirk shoved Kobe in a hole and left him there in order to make all this happen.
It's like Lennox Lewis beating Tyson past his prime. Dirk couldnt handle Kobe when Kobe was in is genetic prime. That's why Dirk beating Bron and Wade in their prime is so devastating. Also, you guys beat us after 3 straight trips to the finals and an Olympics. Beat us next year then I'll fully concede and give Dirk his due. However, Dirk dam near choked that away las night and he hadn't played in 3 straight finals...so if you keeping it real then remember that . You guys won las night...enjoy it but don't get ahead of the game....you were like Busta Douglas on Mike Tyson when u played us...so enjoy it for the moment.

Until he grows up, and matures he will not be mentally tough at his current frame of mind. He dances around and his childish antics are that of a teenager which does not translate to being a winner.

Will he ever grow up? I doubt anytime soon, not with how pampered he is by the league and ESPN.

All I know is the lakers were 26-13 prior to.the gasol trade.

If Kobe hadn't played with Shaq, no one would be mistaking him for mentally tough

dude is seriously weaksauce in the mental department, sure he's a tough-nosed scorer, that doesn't make him mentally tough, see the trade Bynum/trade me stuff, PJ's book, throwing Shaq under the bus like a punk when he got busted, and the monumental, record book failures of 2004 and 2008. Maybe even 2011, considering the expectations

    Kobe mentally tough???

asking for trades cause Shaq Daddy is not here anymore is not mentally tough at all.

getting abused by scrubs like Raja Bell left and right until Papi Gasol came in is not mentally tough.

I think you're on to something there. I think it ties into all the "Next Jordan" hype. If it were just about being equal or better than Kobe then wins and rings would suffice. But Jordan? Jordan did all his winning while being the face of the league, Nike, Hanes, McDonald's, and who knows what else. In that respect I don't think there can ever be another Jordan and I wonder if Lebron can even recognize that.

If the national sports media was then what it was now any and all of Jordan's less than flattering habits would be well known. I would have thought that it would have sank in after a year of watching the media do with the Heat what it's done a number of times of the last few years with other sports figures. They build them up and they have just as much fun tearing them down and playing up the fall from the grace they bestowed upon the athletes in the first place. They're like little kids with building blocks.

If Shaq hadn't played in Orlando and lost in the finals and if he hadnt played with 2 all-stars (van exell and Eddie Jones) prior to Kobe's arrival I might agree with you.

Fact is Kobe was facing 20-to-life in Colorado and he was still dropping 40 + a night. Come again Jose.

Another fact...and if I have to I will queue the tapes and pull the stats. Kobe has owned Tom Duncan more than any player has owned another player in NBA history. That is no hype pure fact.

Yes it is...very....20-to-life is nothing to scoff at...plus they was planning to make him watch child porn with an electrical impulse device around his to see how hard he got. If he got too hard they'd add time on to his sentence. No that's what he was facing.

To go a little off tangent to your point... can you imagine if there were text messaging cell phones and Facebook in Jordan's time? I have friends in Chicago and a few times I've visited in the early 2000s, I would hear random stories from random people about how Jordan used to their "friend" or "sister" or someone else they knew. Who knows how true those stories were, but like a lot of famous athletes, Jordan had his own share of dirt. Which goes back to text messaging and Facebook. As big of a celebrity as Jordan was, you'd have to imagine he would have gotten exposed at some point like Tiger Woods and those voice-mail messages or like Mark Sanchez and the pictures of his place by a minor. "Facebook updates" with Michael Jordan's face in some girls pie.

    Would be quite amusing...

Because of inferior coaching, Phil Jax makes some magic. He's the best ever. LeBron is otherwise much better than Kobe.

The Heat weren't ready to win it all this season. The big three are great, but they still lack interior presence and a good point guard.
