After VJ was realeased by the Pistons in 1991 he signed on with your Spurs. I was wondering if any of the Spurs fans here have any game tapes with The Microwave in them. Let me know please.

I can't help with your request, but it's kind of cool to recap prominent players who played for both team.

Vinnie didn't have the greatest of times as a Spur. When he left, he allegedly went back to Detroit and complained about how soft the Spurs were (probably correctly).

Then of course we have Dennis Rodman.

And Sean Elliott and Billy Curley. Less said about them, the better from your standpoint I suppose.

George Gervin never played for Detroit, but the link is undeniable.

    Anybody else?

Vinnie did play in 3 playoff games for the Spurs in 1992 (Spurs, sans David Robinson, were swept 3-0 by the pre-Barkley Suns). He averaged 8.3 ppg (25 points) in 23.0 minutes per game, on .458 shooting (11-24; 2-4 from 3).

I have two games from the 1992 season with VJ on the Spurs, one game was vs. the Bulls in January and Vinnie scored 4 pts. The other game I had was vs. the Phoenix Suns in Game 2 in the 92 playoffs, and I don't even think Vinnie scored. He had a terrible game, as did most of the Spurs players that night, not named Terry mings, Sean Elliott, and Rod Strickland.

SFIA, I'd also be interested in talking to you about the 1992 playoff game, if you're amenable to that.

HITA played with the Pistons? I know he's from Detroit....K-Dub is also from there, and went to the same high school.

Smith never played with the Pistons, but he's from Michigan and went to State.

I went to the NCAA regional finals at the Alamodome a couple of years ago when Mich. State was there. Steve Smith and a few other Spurs (Bowen, Ferry, SJax) sat a few rows in front of us.

For the State fans, Smith was a god. About 40 people came up to him to ask for pictures or autographs. They wouldn't leave him alone.

Strictly a Michigan reference. I don't believe Steve Smith ever played for Detroit.

Larry Brown is kind of the Kevin Bacon of basketball, except I'd probably pare it down to the Two Degrees of Larry Brown.

How about Lance Blanks? Former texas Longhorn, then started his career with the Detroit Pistons and now works in the Spurs scouting dept, as well as color commentator.

I guess he did in 1992-93. 16 games, 25 total points in 66 minutes
