If the latest rumors about Google's forthcoming Nexus 4G phone are to be believed, you might want to wait until Thanksgiving before getting a new Android device. Google is reportedly prepping a new Nexus phone that includes a dual-core processor, "monster-sized" screen, and high-definition video capture. The phone will run Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), be available around Thanksgiving, and, as the name suggests, the device will run on a 4G LTE network, according to Boy Genius Report.

The rumored spec list isn't complete, but the device would reportedly have a dual-core 1.2-1.5 GHz dual-core processor. That sounds like the Nexus might be running the new dual-core Kal-El chips from Nvidia, but BGR says the OMAP 4460 from Texas Instruments or a new Qualcomm Snapdragon chip are more likely.

Google's rumored new device may also sport 1GB RAM, 1 mega-pixel front-facing camera, 5 MP rear-facing camera, 1080p video capture, and a large 720p display (no specifics). The device may also be entirely software based with no hardware buttons.

There's no word on carrier details or if the rumored Nexus phone will carry the actual Nexus brand. Instead, it could be that Google is working closely with a device maker to create a flagship device that will lead the way for Ice Cream Sandwich handsets that follow.

In May, Google demoed Android 4.0 during the company's I/O developer conference. The forthcoming mobile OS will basically bring a lot of Honeycomb features to smartphones such as the task launcher and sliding widgets. Ice Cream Sandwich will also feature Kinect-like motion detection, and more NFC integration. Google says ICS will somehow address the fragmentation problem for developers by creating "one OS that runs everywhere."

Google in December unveiled the second Nexus device called the Nexus S, built by Samsung. The handset runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), has a 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 16GB onboard storage, 4-inch display, and a 5MP camera. The Nexus S is available on T-Mobile and the Nexus S 4G runs on Sprint's network.

I have serious doubts that any phone released by the end of the year will be able to compete with this monster. It will be very interesting to see if the iPhone 5 can have even moderately comparable hardware.

It's still ridiculously impressive to see. Cell phone tech has probably jumped forward faster than any consumer product in history in the past 3-4 years.

Believe it when you see it, and then at what cost?

I used to work for a manufacturer. Dream specs seldom make it to production as advertised.

This isn't really a "dream specs" situation. The Evo3d has almost all of this and it is only 200 on contract.

This. Let me tell you, I've never gone Ga-Ga over a phone before but I'm quite enamored with mine.
