Rory = beast, -11 after day 2??? The closest person behind him is at -3.....might turn out to be one of the best US Open scores we've ever seen...
Rory McIlroy is playing unbelievably right now. 7 under (so far) at the Open on day 1?!
Yeah, I know he's collapsed before so I'm not going to get too carried away, but it's still impressive
Course doesn't look to be playing very fast, which could explain some of these scores (second place @ -3). This means if you can hit fairways you can go low.
edit: Rory at -6

Through two rounds, it's the best in open history. Better even than Tiger in 2000. http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/usope...ory?id=6672343
BETHESDA, Md. -- In one of those can't-miss moments in sports, thousands of fans covered every inch of space on the hill behind the 10th green at Congressional. They spilled onto the clubhouse veranda, pressed their faces against the windows and lined up against the balcony railing to watch Rory McIlroy deliver a performance never before seen in the U.S. Open.
"It was Tiger Woods of 11 years ago," Ian Poulter said.
In some respects, it was even better.
McIlroy, the sympathetic figure at the Masters, was as close to perfect as golf allows Friday during a stunning assault on the record book. The 22-year-old from Northern Ireland became the first player in the 111-year history of the U.S. Open to reach 13-under par, and despite a double bogey into the water on the final hole, his 5-under 66 was enough to set the 36-hole scoring record at 131.more
He did collapse at the master's, so that certainly hangs in the air, but to bounce back and play this well in the next major is amazing. Can't wait to see if he can hold on through the weekend. Absolutely dominant performance so far.
Rory is playing pretty well again, -1 so far on the third day, even if he shoots a couple of 1-unders, he's pretty much got this thing wrapped up....this kid is special.
now at -14 , has a 9 shot lead
Think he's got this. Paired up with Y.E. Yang again tomorrow, so he should be fairly comfortable. Hope he's got that master's choke out of his mind
I definitely haven't seen a performance like this since Tiger in 2000.
Got to -17 at one point. Unbelievable! Looking like the next great golfer.
sure hope so. He seems like the anti-Tiger, which is exactly what golf needs. Jason Day, a 23 year old, was second. (3rd straight top-10 in a major). Future looks pretty good
It's really early, but future Texas Longhorn Jordan Spieth also looks like he has a great future as a golfer. He did well at the Byron Nelson and almost qualified for the U.S. Open. Rory and Jason Day definitely give golf fans something to root for other than Tiger and Phil.
A little creepy with the host's hands touching Rory, but still cool to see
