Happy Birthday, and word.
Can't help but to think the expectations on this guy are too high.
Year + rookie numbers in the past drafts:
2010 15th pick: Larry Sanders - 14.5/4.5/3.0 (min/pts/boards -- who?)
2009 15th pick: Austin Daye - 13.3/5.1/2.5 (min/pts/boards -- potential middle of the road NBA player)
2008 15th pick: Robin Lopez - 10.2/3.2/2.0 (min/pts/boards -- not a major contributor in his 3rd season)
2007 15th pick: Rodney Stuckey - 19/7.6/2.3/2.8 (min/pts/boards/ass -- best case scenario?)
2006 15th pick: Cedric Simmons - 12.4/2.9/2.5 (min/pts/boards -- where is he now?)
2005 15th pick: Antoine Wright - 9.5/1.8/0.8 (min/pts/boards -- played 7 games last season)
Yeah, but you can say the same for any draft number. There are so many variables behind a player's success in the league that the only thing we can really say about draft positions is what kind of needs individual GMs had to bet what they did when they were making their decisions. In the end, it comes down to the individual player and the organization he's drafted by.
I'm optimistic Leonard will have a role on the team, either on the floor, or at least making RJ fight for his over-priced minutes after we fail to trade him.
Oh, and happy birthday/welcome to the team, kid.
On the odd chance he might take time out of his busy gym rat schedule to log on and visit spurstalk, I wish Leonard a happy happy birthday too.
Happy birthday dude, hope you're reading this!
What a pathetic hater.
why stop at 2005?.... what's so different about the 2004 draft pick Al Jefferson?
