like this I find completely incomprehensible, and as much as I am in favor of protecting individual rights, at some point I think you kind of abdicate those when you do like this.
Hold a fair trial, then drag his ass behind the building for a quick bullet in the brainpan, as an obvious failed human being. No appeals, no pardons, no last minute reprieves. Save everybody the time/expense of "punishing" him.
SWEE ER — A father abandoned his 4-year-old son along a West Texas highway, and the injured boy spent several hours alone in the dark before a passing motorist picked him up, police said.
Carlos Rico, 22, stopped his car along a cactus-lined stretch of Interstate 20 near Swee er at about 3 a.m. Tuesday and "threw the boy out of the car like a bag of garbage," Swee er police Chief Jim Kelley told the Abilene Reporter-News on Tuesday.
The boy was picked up about three hours later by the local high school basketball coach and taken to a hospital, where doctors removed at least 500 cactus spines from the child's body, Kelley said. The boy was in the state's custody on Wednesday.

Why was the kid playing in cacti?
From the rest of the account, I would guess that he was phsycially thrown into them.
Even four year olds know better than to run into a cactus patch.
I walked in on my 15yr old daughter in tears last night watching this story on the news.....I'm relieved that innocent boy is away from that monster, there is no telling what kind of abuse he has suffered
