cool moral victory.
Yao will make it to the HOF, you simply can't ignore what he accomplished for the game. Anyone who disagrees is an idiot.
No, he did not play long enough or achieve enough in the NBA to be in the HALL.
According to basketball reference he only has a 30% chance.
He should not get in. Just because he is chinese?
You can't discount all those All-Star votes, am I right? Am I right? o?
HOF worthy? (because of all the seasons he missed)
But the politically correct people in charge of the HOF will probably induct him in the international NBA players category anyway
Like I said, he will be inducted for what he did for the game off the court. He bridged a huge opportunity for the NBA globally.
Pff, then David Stern should get in too. He did way more than Yam Ming on that regard.
So.. DAVID STERN FOR HOF! I call it now!
What do you think Les Alexander is doing at this very moment? TBH I think he has a knife placed directly on his wrist
IDK about off the court, definitely not on it
I don't believe there is a separate players category for international players.
There is a separate category for "contributors" which could be used for Yao as being one of the pioneer ambassador players from Asia.
I think his player resume is actually good enough to be HOF worthy. It might be borderline but still looks strong enough. 19/9 career numbers. 8 all star selections, 5 all NBA selections.
lemons don't get to be in the HOF
If he was healthy, he'd be a no brainer. Unfortunately he wasn't one, and will not enter the Hall.
That 8th place finish at the 2008 olympics should get him in.
Bill Walton is in.

#32 Retired by the Portland Trail Blazers
Bill Walton led a team to an NBA le, won an NBA MVP, and was maybe the greatest NCAA player of all-time. Their resumes aren't even comparable.
Well i think he will get in for the reasons you said and I really dont have a problem with that "case" ...
but if we JUST look at NBA and Olympics/World championships (since he played no college ball) I would say no he just misses the cut.
But the NBA and it's stars (especially Lebron and Kobe) owe Yao for opening up the world's largest market ...
You make some good points as always but ASG appearances especially with the "chinese inflation" votes for Yao are bull ...
I would agree 30-45% seems about right ...the clown who said it's a no brainer or people who say no are idiots is being a "homer".
Lebron if he retired now ... would be a no brainer
Yao is a "brainer" ...
