No sense hating 3D for the sake of hating 3D. The trailer looks gorgeous. And it's being shot using 3D cameras, rather than relying upon a post-production 3D conversion. The le change seems unnecessary (was originally The Invention of Hugo Cabret, like the novel on which it is based), but other than that I have high hopes.
More than anything, I'm surprised, and a bit saddened, that Scorsese has made the move to digital after being such an outspoken fan of shooting on film. I get that it's a necessary choice due to the 3D cameras, but it just doesn't look the same. I'm not looking forward to the day digital becomes standard.
