White House to Scale Back Regulations on Businesses
The Obama administration will release final plans Tuesday for ending or cutting back hundreds of regulations, an effort to reduce the burden on business and counter criticism that the White House is tone-deaf to business concerns.

Certain railroad cars won't have to install expensive technology, hospitals will be able to skip a round of federal paperwork and low-risk travelers to the U.S. will enjoy expedited entry, officials said. Some businesses will be allowed to file federal forms electronically.

The administration estimates that about a dozen of the changes will save businesses some $10 billion over five years, with other smaller ...

What's it like living near a chemical plant?

A new investigation from iWatch News has found that Koch Industries, a leader of industry resistance to proposed anti-terrorism safeguards at chemical plants, owns 56 facilities using hazardous chemicals that put 4.8 million Americans who live nearby at risk.

Sounds like a great idea. From what I understand this is one of the more comprehensive roll-backs of pointless red tape in a while.

Not sure who "you liberals" are that oppose this.

Whenever I speak of regulations needing to be reduced, remember the flack I always get? I believe from you too. Now that Obama's saying it, it's OK?

    Aren't you being hypocritical?

You are never specific.. no one argues that some regulations are out of date.. but many are necessary..

so next time be specific and maybe you won't get flamed...

when you generalize (99% of the time) your argument loses..

hence " get the govt out of the way".."private business's are over regulated".. are pla itudes at best.

Well, you need to be specific. Classical liberals fought for regulation of Tobacco, Lead Paint, Lead Gas, smog, etc.

You bring up one of those topics, and not only liberals will beat you to the ground, plenty of moderates would.

Personally the next financial and / or environmental disaster as a result of republican obstructionism can't come fast enough for me.

Tried for awhile to think of a thread that could be as equally as stupid as this one.

    How about:

Republic senator authors a bill saying it is illegal to club gay environmentals with a crowbar in public, followed by a thread led:

"Senator X gets it, why don't you conservatives?"

Show us any post you ever made about new railroad car regulations.

    Just one.

Then show a liberal on the board defending them.

Because there is no way in a Republican would author a bill to outlaw clubbing gay environmentalists?

Most 'liberals' advocate regulations of the financial and environmental sector. Point to me where the hypocrisy is?

I realize you have to dumb things down and group everything even somewhat related together but that does not make it reality.

What specifically has Barry done or announced to do that makes him a liberal?

Sorry, I know specifics are REALLY HARD WORK for Big Picture ideologue fantasists, but try to make an effort and "do your own research".

I am all about cost to benefit, and have never said there isn't room for improvement.

Where we differ is where to draw the line between cost to benefit.

You tend to see nothing but costs, and ignore the benefits. I am willing to have companies bear costs if the economy as a whole is better off.
