We seen a lot of notorious calls, cake walks and BS this past decade when it comes to the post-season. That's what tends to come up when you mention LAL or SAS ringing. That's all fun to discuss, but what do you guys think is the hardest fought NBA finals in the past decade? Never mind any notoriety or compe ion level, but what final series pushed a team the most? Made them bleed, sweat and work the most.

I'll probably give it to 2010 Lakers since they were pushed to their limits. They forced the C's to come back to LA after disappointing performances. Kobe, Gasol, Fisher, etc; they all put everything into that le. Probably bias, but hey, we all are.

2010 Lakers definitely had to work incredibly hard for their championship. I really enjoyed that series overall, even though everyone (including Lakerfans whether or not they want to admit it) knows the second half of game 7 was incredibly fishy.

'05 spurs is a good one, Pistons were a real force for that time. I actually bet they would ring, but that's 20 outta my pocket.

I believe if the Celtics had shot 100% they still would have lost. When one team shoots 600% more free throws than the other, they are hard to beat.
2005... was the hardest fought, no question.

We were extremely fortunate that Perkins went down in '10. That gave us a physical advantage & a mental advantage.

    '05 Spurs and '10 Lakers.

I may give the edge to the 2005 one, since game was tied at the start of 4Q in Game 7.
I don't remember how the 4Q of the '10 le was.

#1) Perkins didn't just "go down"...

dirty ass Bynum threw all his weight on him on purpose....

#2) 25 free throws in the last 20 minutes of the game...no accident there...

...and no contest...the best series and the toughest one was Spurs/Pistons...

um, no. that series completely sucked ass, except for one game. they were basically all blowouts (of 80-60 ), aside from the Horry-for-3 game, and game 7 was alright but not great.

2010 Celtics vs Lakers was FAR superior. This past finals was FAR superior as well. Pretty much every other finals series over the past 10 years was pretty boring overall.

Agreed, aside from the Horry game, the 05 Finals weren't that great and nobody outside of Detroit and San Antonio thought it was that great. Just because it goes 7 games doesn't automatically make it a great series.

2010 Finals is easily the hardest fought (and best) series of that time span.

People tend to recall older games as being better. It's mostly about having an interest in the outcome. Hockey is boring, but go to Philly and see how stupid they get over it.

I think you just don't know about it.

I pick the the 2008 WC Finals the last time the Spurs were relevant:

    Lol good call.

The first four games were essentially blowouts for each home team. And game 7 turned when Larry Brown decided he'd save fouls for McDyess and Rasheed in the third quarter and played Tayshaun Prince at PF. Not coincidentally, Tim Duncan went off on offense right around the same time even though he had had an up and down series offensively and was pretty much struggling most of that game 7 up to that point.

But game 5 was a classic. Probably Robert Horry's greatest game and finest overall play in his career in that fourth quarter and overtime. It was more than just that game tying three. He took over in the fourth and overtime. Never really saw that from Horry before. Seen him make clutch shots before, but not take over the game. He had 21 of the Spurs final 32 points of the game.

The rest of the series wasn't all that great, and again the first four games weren't even compe ive.

Didn't the Wallaces and McDyess all have 4 fouls midway through the third? They paid bigtime there for losing Williamson and Okur. Detroit had a 9 point lead and was getting ready to blow the game open.

'05 Finals was so weird. First four games were all blowouts in favor of the home team, Pistons nearly had that in hand until Big Shot Rob turned the series on a dime, then games 6 and 7 were both dogfights.

I still will never forget the knots that my stomach was in when the tip for Game 7 was about to go up.

Dude, this years finals wasn't epic. It was good, but I agree 2010 finals was probably the best.
