What's the NBA?![]()
Might this devolving forum's woes soon be cured by the resumption of the NBA season?
According to Billy Hunter/David Stern, a deal may come within the next few days. Given that Stern was "smiling," it seems pretty certain that the players are about to get penetrated, not that that outcome was unexpected.

The NBA and the National Basketball Players Assocation met for more than seven hours in New York City on Thursday, one day after the two sides spent 15 hours working to fashion a new collective bargaining agreement. No deal was reached, but there were plenty of smiles and quips to go around.
The talks, which are expected to shift focus from system issues to the split of Basketball-Related Income, will resume on Friday morning. Talks began at 2 p.m. on Thursday and lasted past 9:30 p.m., and included commissioner David Stern, deputy commissioner Adam Silver, NBPA executive director Billy Hunter and NBPA president Derek Fisher.
"I think we're within reach, within striking distance of getting a deal," Hunter said. It's just a question of how receptive the NBA is and whether or not they want to do a deal."
Asked if he might reveal some of the deal points, Hunter said he was not yet able to. "I'm hopeful that tomorrow we will be. Commissioner Stern is back there smiling, so I guess that's a good indication."
Stern then shouted out: "Tomorrow."
So, with this jovial mood and evident progress, why didn't talks go deep into the night?
"We've been here all day," Hunter said. "We've made little progress. I think everybody is pretty wiped out after last night. What we've decided to do is recess the process until tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m. We're going to reconvene and hopefully spend as much time as we possibly need in hopes of getting a deal."
My expectations are still tempered, but this feels significantly different than the previous meetings. I think the deal will be pretty solid with most of the system remaining the same and the BRI being lowered. Players lose out some, but they had to and overall the damage will be minimal IMO.
Leggo.
I don't give a which side gets penetrated. Start the ing season already.
I just don't want Sarver getting what he wants
why? the longer we wait the more Pennzoil Merlin gets to pump into his knees...
Like I said, I think most of the system issues will remain very similar on most accounts from what I have heard. There will be some changes, but overall the system won't have giant sweeping changes IMO.
The BRI is really not of that much importance to we the fans, the system is key and I think it will be fair.
I wanted something favorable to the small-market teams...
On the bright side I won't have to miss one of last seasons of the 00's player of the decade.
I hope you're right. People might say a hard salary cap would be best for the Suns, but a new CBA that forces Sarver to sell would do a lot more for the Suns than a hard salary cap.
Dry your eyes, Nathan...Bean will still be around for a few more years
Never thought of it that way.

Nathan, it will be favorable for smaller market teams, but it won't be a complete overhaul like they were speaking about with a hard cap and such. There will be some tweaks, but most of the exceptions will remain in some way shape or form and trades will probably have a little bit loosened rules.
Overall, the system will be fair and move the league slightly more towards what they call "compe ive balance".
Hardcap will never work. The NBA needs the Lakers to be good. We are the well-spring from which the league flows.
There will be no hard cap.
Thank Christ.
Yup. This isn't the NFL. America doesn't like basketball enough for the NBA to get by on being a "Compe ive league with parity!"

lmemulatedao!!!
How many games will have to be cancelled to make the next season an asterisk?
tbh, they chickened out... they should've axed a couple of franchises, like Charlotte, Cleveland and New Orleans, tbh
