What if the Rockets traded Ralph Sampson for Clyde Drexler and the #2 pick in the 1984 draft like it was rumored they almost did.
Jordan - Drexler - Olajuwon![]()
What if this player was drafted, if this trade was made, if that player stayed, if that team did things right. A load of what if scenarios, what stands out for you?
I would go with what if the Rockets traded Sampson for the #2 pick and selected Jordan. You would have the best center along with the best SG playing side by side. I would say Jordan would have ringed in the 80s, but I don't think the duo would have stayed together for more than five or six years.

R.I.P. Showtime.
Sampson and Olajuwon took enough of a on showtime as it was![]()
I'll give you the biggest what if in NBA history, right here.
1972, the Milwaukee Bucks spent their 1st round draft pick on Julius Erving, who had played in the ABA two years. You could play in the ABA back then as an underclassmen, but not the NBA. Anyway, Julius's class graduated in 1972, so he was eligible to be drafted in the NBA. Dr. J. decided to stay in the ABA and only came to the NBA when the leagues merged a few years later.
However, with Kareem, Dr. J. and Oscar Robertson, (with at least a few years left in him) that Bucks team would have started winning les immediately and probably wouldn't have stopped until the mid 1980's, no matter where Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and Michael Jordan ended up.
Dr. J. plain ed up.
Another fun one... What if Shaq hadn't left LA?
What if the Suns got the #1 pick and got David Robinson instead of Armen Gilliam
D-Rob
Barkley
Dumas
Majerle
KJ
stacked(unless D-Rob tried to chase Barkley around with a bible)
what if kome ends up in charlotte and plays alongside average talent most of his career?
nlgga would be known as a pathetic mj-wannabe
What if Richard Dumas wasn't a dope fiend? Barkley, KJ, Dumas, Majerle, Chambers, Ainge, Rambis, and Ceballos together should have been good for a least a couple of rings.
We needed Robinson to get him on the right path
From the footage I've watched of the 1993 Suns, Dumas was easily the most talented player on they had.
The other what if for the 1990s Suns is if Ducksworth didn't cause that gruesome looking injury that ed KJ up forever.
Or if Danny Manning didn't go down in 1995 when the Suns were 38-10.
Or if Barkley and Majerle didn't start getting drunk and playing 36 holes of golf the day before a playoff game after they were up 3-1 against Houston.
Drug free Dumas + pre-1992 KJ and the Suns beat the Bulls in 1993.
What if Red McCombs hadn't gotten cheap in the summer of '92 and
(1) kept Strickland instead of trying to replace him with got Del Negro and
(2) ok'd the rumored trade of Terry mings and Willie Anderson for Barkley?
PG Rod Strickland
SG Sean Elliott
SF Dale Ellis
PF Charles Barkley
C David Robinson
6 Antoine Carr
Of course the flip-side of that what-if would be if McCombs got so cheap he made the rumored Robinson for Ewing trade, and then Ewing walked?
PG Vinny Del Negro
SG Willie Anderson
SF Dale Ellis
PF Dennis Rodman
C JR Reid
6 Antoine Carr

What if Jason Kidd comes to San Antonio after the 03' championship? And Parker gets dealt for a solid bigman/2 guard? I wouldve cried tears of joy.
What if Kobe actually left for the Bulls a few seasons ago? LOL at the league with Rose, Kobe, Deng and Noah.
true
I was just referring to someone better than Hedo though. That nlgga along with that got Fisher ed up SA's 04' le hopes![]()
What if George Irvine didn't destroy Grant Hill's absolute certain Hall of Fame career by playing him in that meaningless 1st round series in 2000?
I don't agree with FkLA much, but he's dead on about Parker being a wildly overrated bum
If Kobe left for the Bulls they wouldn't have been ty enough to get the first overall pick in 2008.
Duncan would have rang, that's for sure.
-0 rings
-Maybe a few playoff entrances(only to exit in the first round)
-You would never hear Kobe and Jordan in the same sentence
-People wouldn't think he's clutch because espn wouldn't make it seem that way
