I hate to see him go, but my son said that there were a lot of rumors about his health being a big factor.
I kept noticing during the WS that his eyes were blinking at a spectacularly slow rate, and mentioned to my husband that he looked like he was on medication of some kind.
Word is that he had shingles during the year this past year, and that the medication he was on for that was somehow impacting his memory negatively. I know nothing about medicine, so haven't a clue if it is true or not, but if it IS true, that could explain his odd behavior during the "who do you want to pitch to these guys" in the 6th game.
It should make it particularly hard to re-sign Pujols now, depending on who they get to replace LaRussa.
