I always hate that in games. Where you have to pick up letters, or tapes, etc.
Does anyone enjoy that ? I suppose it works well for certain slower paced games, especially creepy ones, but for something like say Resistance 3 which I just finished, I just hate that .
I really strongly prefer how the original game did it with cut scenes. I know they ditched it for the sequel, but hoped they'd bring it back for the third.

Yeah never bothered finding Intel in the CoD games. Just finished the MW3 campaign and probably picked of 5/46 intel pieces. Same with the Uncharted series, never end up finding more than 10% of treasures.
In MW3 I've picked it up by mistake. Otherwise I ignore it. I also ignore any "let these guys pass" suggestions. I didn't buy a first person SHOOTER to let guys live.
It depends on the game, for me. I'm not a big fan of multiplayer gaming in general, so if I find a game that I like I'm more likely to replay the campaign over (and over, and over, back when I had the time) than I am to check out the multiplayer options. With a game like that, one in which the gameplay is compelling enough that I want to revisit the campaign, having intel or other easter eggs to look for can be a fun little obsession. Perhaps even more so than pursuing trophies or achievements. Especially in games that are particularly story driven (the audio recordings in the Bioshock games, for instance), where finding that stuff adds depth to the narrative.
I seldom bother with searching for intel or easter eggs in my first playthrough, though. I'll pick up the ones I find, but I won't actively look for them. And going back through to collect that stuff is never a good enough reason on its own to make me play a game more than once if I thought it was boring the first time around.
