    So this 2 have been launched 40yrs ago, decommissioned but still traveling in space sending information back...

    the question is htf is 40yr old technology is still able to send information back when im sittin here gettin wifi reception....

    Voyager 1 broke past, or in the edge of the heliopause now. Both are transmitting important data still.

    OK, my recollection was a little off. Voyager 1 crossed the heliosheath last year. Not the heliopause. It is expected to cross the heliopause in 2014.

    These probes at the time we not designed for this task. However, they were re-tasked once more was learned about our solar system.

    no point in returinin to earth to become junk, might as well keep it in space and let it do what its meant to do....
