"drew respectful notices not just from folk singer Arlo Guthrie and actor Vince Vaughn, but also from the likes of media magnate and former GOP presidential candidate Steve Forbes"

I'm gonna send RP some money - I certainly have issue with some of what he preaches; but he is so damned consistent and honest (earmarks notwithstanding) - that I just have to support him.

women in my life would hate on me hard of I voted for RP and told. I rotated the dial to his name in the primary in 2008, but I haven't decided who I'm voting for this time.

I'm doubtful it'll be RP, much as I like him. Even though he represents me philosophically better than any of the candidates (except maybe for Gary Johnson,) I think he'd be a ty president. His own party doesn't like him enough to get behind him and push, and I don't think RP has it in him to pretend to get along.

RP could possibly milk it for a cabinet position. he's well placed to create mischief in IA and NH for the putative front runners.

Newt has the same issue. Your choices are being winnowed to a couple of Mormons, IMO.

CNN (after Ron Paul wins Iowa):

And now we have representatives from the Gingrich and Romney camps to discuss their strategies heading into New Hampshire. They both finished Iowa very strong, and it's going to be a slug fest the rest of the way.
I don't think any of the other Republicans have the cojones to nominate Paul for a position. Though Treasury or State would be a hoot.

Saw him last night on CSPAN talking with Newt and a moderator; I was impressed, frankly.

Not to be a prick, but I dont register with websites if I dont have to.

WaPo asks for registration, which I will not do, therefore I only read the first page.

Naturally the one candidate promoting traditional conservatism is deemed to be an aberration in the 'conservative' party.

The problem with Rep. Paul is that most of his supporters regard him as a protest candidate. Given that this is America and American politics, pragmatic concerns rule the day and Romney will be nominee.

The other problem is that the bedrock support of Paul is cultish in nature, whereas a significant part of his original appeal was that he didn't give a about his popularity. He seems to have embraced that at this point.

The fact that he's open to 9/11 twooferism makes him a non-starter.

Tell IA and NH. They didn't get the memo.
