Cory Joseph's immigration trip to Canada was a success! Spurs signed him to rookie-scale deal this afternoon.

You aren't excited about draft picks?

Without the addition of a big guy, we need something to be excited about? And yes the signing of a draft pick is always a good reason.

Hey I took the time to sign up for a Spurs fan message board and question why someone cares about the Spurs enough to talk about it.

Good for him, but he will probably spend a lot of time in Austin and since he missed a lot of training camp, it wouldn't be fair to the team to play him. At least, thats what I think Pop will do.

Probably the purest point guard on the team besides Manu.

People just writing him off as a guaranteed Toro have pretty clearly never seen the kid play. Either Pop's youth movement is a lie or Joseph's going to have a chance to fight for the backup point guard spot.

The idea on him being on the Toros for the majority of the season is based on what we have. In terms of Perimeter players, We have
    TP TJ at PG
    Manu Anderson Neal at SG
    Jefferson-Leonard at SF.

That's 7 perimeter (PG, SG, SF) players who are almost assuredly ahead of him atm. Add to that Tim, Bonner, Blair and Tiago, and 11 spots are filled. Would you want a third PG or an extra big man in that situation. He'll play, because there will be injuries and days of rest, but I don't think he'll be a regular part of the rotation.

    1. I'm leaning towards 'lie'.

    2. ESPN3 had all of the Texas big 12 games archived. I went back and watched some after he was drafted . . . I wasn't impressed to the point that I ever thought he was just too good for the Toros and should never play there. Doesn't mean that I wouldn't rather see him play, struggle, and even fail instead of TJ Ford, but it is what it is.

Fair enough. Maybe TJ Ford got better since the last time I saw him, but I don't really see how he's a clear cut above Joseph. Also, I think Joseph plays more like Parker which could be a good thing for the Spurs.

Don't misunderstand me, I don't like TJ Ford. I doubt he has gotten better, and since his injury I don't know if he is a clear cut above Joseph.

But it's been a long, long time since Pop cared whether a player is better than the older vet in front of him.

Add in missing practice days because of the VISA stuff, and that's all Pop needs to bench him for the whole season.

Pargo played good in the preseason opener of Memphis last night ... nice distribution of the ball. Lets see what Ford can do when Parker sits out tonights game. For Corey ist Austin ... for now

upside - a true pg, likely taller than 6'3", good defense
downside - did not dominate in college and in international play with Canada.

interesting that he was drafter first round therefore guaranteeing his salary.

appears to be more like d-league player in athleticism, but his pg skills are superior to Hill's

Joseph just clearly outplayed Ford as the second best point guard against the rockets. Does he deserve a potential 12th spot above a sub-par, negative-impact big man? He's at least our Chris Quinn...
